We've been getting indie games in spades this month, and Shovel Knight is one in particular that I really dig.

I really like these Jeff x Drew QLs. Drew asks the interesting questions, Jeff gives the in-depth answers.

so its another dumbass 8bit indie platformer but this time has a not particularly interesting fish? great...

Posted by Edmundus

I wasn't sold on the recent trailer, but from this quick look the game looks really cool.

Fun fact: crappy pixel art is crappy, good pixel art is good...

Looking forward to trying this. A lot.

But as I post in every Shovel Knight video, play Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures if you want another top tier action-platformer. This sort of stuff makes you realize the potential of these throwback games.

This game actually looks really good.

This looks a lot more fun than I was expecting. Might have to hook up my WiiU...

Any one know if this game's going to come out on Playstation or Xbox? Would much rather play this on the couch, seems like such a good console game.

Between Patrick's excitement and this Quick Look...looks like I'm spending some e-Shop money!

Here's the excerpt from their FAQ page:

Possible, but not confirmed. Seems to be not exclusive to Nintendo platforms.

Dwarf Fortress references? In my platformer? Sign me up!

Only YOU can prevent forest fires. That was genius and sold this game to me.

Yes. More Dreff ; )

Going to go out on a limb here and predict.. the shield knight is now... *gasp* the enchantress! I hope it's not that cliche but I bet it is.

This looks fine, but I don't see what made this garner such a positive response from the crew. I like old games but I'm struggling to see what makes this really stand apart visually or mechanically.

Those dancing fish remind me of those videos of like thousands of carp jumping out of rivers.

Troupple seems to be half Trout, half apple.

Good game mechanics are something you feel, it's not just a seeing thing.

Ive been waiting for a game like this for years! Had to dig out a few of my old NES games to tide me over till today.

Looks better than most retro style platformers on Steam. Not a huuuuuge fan of the genre, but will probably grab this one. Thanks guys!

Posted by blacklab

oh good a retro 2d plaformer

Shovel Knight just looks like pure joy. I'll be picking it up soon.

Holy crap. I need this game in my life. Everything about it is just so lovingly crafted.

Posted by Foggen

Downloaded it last night because of Kickstarter, hope I get time to play it tonight.

Posted by mus209

@sub_o: Ok cool, so not likely to happen any time soon. Pity really...

Posted by Spitznock

Nowadays I see a retro-inspired platformer and roll my eyes, but this one looks so genuine and happy that I really want to try it.

@mus209: Do you not play Wii U games on the couch?

Posted by Mr_Creeper

Pretty impressed with this game. Something to think about picking up this weekend.

There's a difference between a shovel and a spade. Get it right damn it. A spade is actually sharp enough to cut fools.

That treasure chest animation is great!

Did Jeff just reference Vanquish? Well alright he get another point in my book.

Posted by CitizenJP

YES! I'm downloading this immediately.

This game looks incredible, and yet...

For being such a seemingly accurate homage to an entire era of games, it looks uncharacteristically easy.

Edited by Luck702

Did Jeff snort a 6 foot rail of cocaine before recording this or is he just really excited about Shovel Knight?

Posted by Ohvee

This looks like it's pretty early in the game. Most reviews mention that the difficulty ramps up pretty fast.

This game looks really great, and I wouldn`t have given it a thought if it weren`t for this Quicklook. Thanks! Also, DrewxJeff Quicklooks are awesome. Keep up the fun!

Yeah ... weird ... I don't think I've heard him as excited as this in quite a while.

Can't decide if I want this for PC or 3DS

The castle, at the mini boos fight, there's a castle in the background, I can already see the Ninja Gaiden ending.
