It is an HD version of the original with the new controllers as the control scheme.

I already "relived" this game on the Wii.

$20 is pretty high, but I do love this game.

Never played it- guess I don't have much to whine about. I'm buying this right after I finish Gears 3

For anyone who doesn't already know the Ps2 version was graphically inferior to the gamecube original but came with bonus side missions where you played as Ada Wong and had an extra gun that was a charged laser thing that could shoot through multiple enemies in a row. I believe their were 2 bonus costumes as well, one for Leon one for Ashley.

The port to HD isn't as good as say God of War 1/2 but eh I doubt most people will be buying this for the visuals.

Looks good, but also kinda looks like I remember it looking on the Gamecube. Great game, but I'm happy with my memories.

As a guy that has NEVER played re4, I gotta say I'm super excited for this.

The controls on the Wii version more than make up for the graphics disadvantage it has over this. If I ever want to play this game again, I'll do it there.

Code Veronica is coming out next week.

I picked this up today on 360, I'm not 100% sure why. Maybe to play it for some points. By all accounts it's a so so port and not up to the standard of others on the market. I knew all this and I still bought it, I'm clearly not right in the head. I have the Gamecube version of the game and have finished that. I guess the impulse of replaying it and getting achievements was too much of a lure for me ;)

@supergg2k: This looks better. If your component cables are gonna cost you close to or as much as this, then buy this version.

Sold by virtue of being RE4.

Which looks better? The PS2 version in progressive scan or this HD release. If there is no difference I will make the investment in ps2 component cables and play that instead.

I had no idea that this was dropping today. I never played the original, so I hope that you guys do some sort of comparison.

Such a great game. Controls might kill it for some people. Those people suck.

Certainly one of the best games of all time.

Now on PSN!

I just started it and it's not the most impressive thing i've seen. This is not on par with better HD collections like the God of War Collection/Origin.

This is essentially gamecube/wii graphics that don't look like garbage on an HD TV. If you only played the PS2 version this is a nice upgrade but this is still a fairly lazy port.

The game itself is still outstanding even today though and totally worth playing.

Glad I never played Resident Evil 4, but it's unfortunate that it's all gray/brown.

If only they could of used this opportunity to add Luis into the Mercenaries mode. That would require they actually do some added work, though. =X

hell yeah it does, i was hoping it was going to look like that but noooooo, the PC mods make it like like a current gen game!!! this not so much.

Waiting for the EU PSN release tomorrow, so I can buy it at a low price! Can't wait to set my teeth back into this classic though!

I bought this. It's not a quality port. It does not look good at all, everything is just uprezzed and stretched out, no actual work was done on textures.

That said, it's still RE4, which makes it still one of the best games of the last generation, and you can play it on a HDTV, with a 360/ps3 pad and achievements. For 20 bucks, that's enough for me, even if I don't want to encourage lazy ports like this.

For the record- this is NOT a port of the PC version. If anything it's a retrofitting of the Wii version; which took the best of the GCN and PS2 versions. Original Gamecube textures, models, and real-time cutscenes; paired with the PS2 version's extra costumes and content (The PC version was strictly a port of the PS2 version). Beyond that, it's a pretty minimal port and definitely not a complete overhaul. Less jaggies, yay. The only thing they've "added" is leaderboards for the various modes, a new control scheme (more akin to the default in RE5), and maybe a bit of a very, VERY subtle film grain effect? Although given the workmanlike quality of the port that too was probably already in the Wii version.
 
All that being said, I'm really enjoying playing through this game again (definitely going after that 1000G yo). But uh, yeah, having the username "President_Evil" I would say that. Your mileage may vary.

Paying $5 for this thanks to PS+ and having $5 amazon credit handy. Thank god they sell $10 PSN credit.

EDIT: For the record, widescreen support on 480p actually looks good, tons of content, a single disc release, none of the PC version's jank. Definitely the one to get. I'm serious.

Would be cool if they did a Quicklook of this.

Could they have done more? Yes.

Do I love REmake 1000x more than this one? Ok, yes.

But is it the definitive version of one of the best action games of all time in glorious 1080p widescreen? YES.

@RE_Player92: That's cool that you like them. I just preferred the old games with real zombies and not the monster head poppers. Resident Evil was actually the first Playstation game I ever played way back in 1997. I'm getting cantankerous in my old age!

If they did this properly, yeah I'd pay $20 for it. As it stands, why would I pay that much for a lazy port of a game I already have on the GameCube and have beaten like six times?

I'd want: more upgraded visuals, more voice samples for the enemies and variety in appearances...little tweaks here and there. Ultimately, I think the game's nearly perfect and one of the best ever made. Still, I don't really want it.

EDIT: Game Informer and Official Xbox Magazine seem to think this is a very quality port. Hmm...maybe if it goes on sale.
