I did like the first Sup Com, I think I was even a beta tester, but I doubt I can run Sup Com 2 :(

That Pulinsmash looks like it pulls enemies very slow. Seems like it would get owned by more than a handful of units.

supcom 2 runs twice as good as the original imo, its because the units use less polygons. "
Well I'm gonna try the demo, lets hope so :P

The demo is getting thrashed by hardcore players of the first game over at GAF.  Apparently they really streamlined the game for consoles.  Just what I read though, no hands on from me.

From what I hear, SupCom 2 is worse than SupCom 1, and SupCom 1 was terribly worse from TA, so no. I'm still staying on TA and TA:Spring

Supcom 2 is all about broad appeal. My friends who didn't get into SC1 because they didn't know when to upgrade their mexes and the ideal build order (there really is just a singular one) are liking it, but most existing supcom players are hating it.

I definitely think it's a shame that a sequel to such a different and interesting game is less different and less interesting, but I'd imagine it's the only thing that will sell.

You heard right, if we're talking about the opinions of elite purists stuck in the 1990s.

SupCom 2 has even lower system requirements than the first game.

I get the feeling that Chris didn't really have much of a hand creating this sequel. He has other games in the works that I think he's more committed too.

The AC1000 reminds me more of the Gunship from BF2142 than the AC130.

It got thrashed at the GPG forums too, devs arguing with the fans. Great success!

Holy shit these are the worst graphics I've seen for such a large title in some time. It's a step above Rise of Nations, graphically. Can't say I was that big of a fan of Supreme Commander first go around. I found the game to be so..... cold and lacking of personality, and this one unfortunately does not fix this atmospheric issue.

I played the Sup Com 2 demo and ... had to uninstall it after 1 hour.

Wow, this is not your game, if you are an RTS player. Even if you are like me, someone who occasionally plays RTS games without going hardcore (eat-sleep-drink tech-trees etc), you will be rather disappointed, I fear.

In this bad economy the devs/publishers opted for a bigger audience? The question is: will they find any audience now?!  I wish them luck.

Nice side effect: I now want to check out the 1st Sup Com - never bothered to play it.

It doesnt look better or worese then C&C4 or Starcraft 2. And RON was a 2D game so I think your exaggerating a bit. Also SupCom2 is meant to be played pretty far out so being that close to the action almost never happens.

And for a huge ass RTS whit ALOT of units on screen and being able to see the whole map at once it is pretty good graphically.

It does look worse, at least the demo. Maybe the use lower rez textures for the demo to keep the size down, but I doubt it really. But graphics are really the last thing I care for in supcom, but they dumbed the game down beyond belief, and now it's just another standard RTS game which borrows something from supcom 1.

Ok list of things that moved the RTS genre forward in the last game and is woefully missing in this game :

Resourcing (now you can just keep amassing a huge stockpile instead of the delicate balance of the first game)
Multiple unit selection (in supcom1 you could select multiple units and still have the build menu available, tell them to do something and they all go and do it, in supcom2 you select multiple engineers, oh wait! my build menu is GONE!)

Thanks for Supreme Command and Conquer GPG! Lets hope the modders can fix this trainwreck.

Just as you exaggerate by calling Rise of Nations '2D'. The issue with the graphics isn't the technical aspect of it, but the styling. The color palette is stale and makes the world feel lifeless, and the scale is precisely what makes the game feel so bland. Sure, you're fighting with giant robots, but what good does that do you when you could get the same sense of scale from a game like Dawn of War? Granted, a fact remains that the game simply 'wasn't for me', as I'm more into clear borders and having to capture those borders, rather than the more competitive, Starcraft style of RTS. Doesn't change the fact that certain parts of the graphics were poorly done, and the new one only exasperates the problem.

Joking aside. I KNOW that SupCom 1 is terri-bad, so TA still is the king of this series. Graphics have nothing to do with it. That's all you kids care about though

@Hero_Swe: Just got done playing Freedom Force, my favorite game is Mount and Blade... Yeah, wouldn't quite say all I care about is graphics ;) I do, however, care about graphics when the game itself has nothing to offer beyond visual candy. Look at Borderlands. If that game looked like... say, Halo 3, would anyone have given a shit?

Game doesn't look too terrible but I can't see me playing this over StarCraft 2 is all.  I really like the concept of the Pullinsmash, that's neat!  SupCom2 looks like it could be a lot of fun and maybe down the road I will check it out.

He talks a little about that during his Dice summit - that if people start coming to him for input on their projects, they are 'carving out' time that he would normally spend on his primary project.
I'd guess that he spends some time setting it up, but doesn't have much to do with it after that.

Sigh. Another game I would buy if my laptop could run it.

The AC1000 looks awesome.

The Pullinsmash could be useful if deployed en-mass, but from what I've seen it looks like a sitting duck if deployed alone. Though I guess with some regular backup it could work.

It's like they recorded him before the units were actually made, putting forth his concepts for the units. Very micromachine-y feel to the units and the game overall.

The Pulinsmash is a giant gimmick with a silly name, but the AC-1000 looks pretty cool.
