Surprise! There's a New Uncharted Game for the PlayStation 4

Love Uncharted. Hope they dont mail it in, though.

It probably wont be out until next year at this time, right? Wake me up when they offer a release date....until then...its just a popcorn fart.

Yep, a new IP would have been amazing (just look at The Last of Us!). Can't complain though, Uncharted is a killer franchise. It's nice knowing that Naughty Dog is working to bring us something great on the PS4.

Wow, I'm sort of alone in thinking the Uncharted series got better with each iteration, eh? Uncharted 2 had some great spectacle moments but in the end it still figured out how to be totally annoying as a game in all the ways the first game did. Uncharted 3 was both an amazing adventure and a good third person shooter (other than the bullet sponge enemies and armies of enemies). All they had to do to make a great game that remained a great game throughout was push the mystical final act as far from essential as they possibly could. No Nazi zombies and no Tibetan yetis makes Nodima a wide-grinning boy.

But hey, I'm also a crazy person who played a lot of games in the final years of this generation on Easy rather than Normal but loved encounters like the ship graveyard in 3 enough that I immediately went back into the game on Hard just to tackle those challenges again.

Seriously, if they make a game with cinematic sequences (even in-game ones such as the hallucination and wandering sections), set design and just GIVE UP on thinking the shooting is what makes these games fun (or alternatively create an entirely new shooting system) while continuing to avoid actual supernatural enemies, I can't imagine Uncharted 4 wouldn't be yet another leap forward for the franchise, and perhaps the first game in the series that didn't sacrifice all of its best bits just to throw another 30-man army at you in the middle of an historic landmark.

It does seem like Naughty Dog is a two team company at this point though, so I will at least hold out hope that there's others in the company working on a new IP. Even if I didn't love TLoU as much as everyone else, it was something new and fresh. ND has done a new IP from the PS1 to the PS2 to the PS3, here's hoping that trend continues.

Everyone is acting like this was a sure thing, but I really did believe in the Naughty Dog cycle. I mean, I wouldn't go so far as to say I was seriously waiting for UnKarted, but I didn't expect ND proper to return to TLoU.

People asking for Jak 4, I still think The Lost Frontier is that. And it wasn't done by ND, just like I thought that, if there was gonna be a new Uncharted, it wouldn't be done by ND either. I mean, it might be more successful than J&D in terms of sales numbers, but it's still no Gran Turismo.

Remember guys that Naughty Dog got 2 teams. (probably more but 2 that focuses on different games) The team that made uncharted 2 made TLOU, and the team that brought you uncharted 3 was obviously working on this. If I know my naughty dog guys, they will reveal a proper trailer during this years VGA show.

Uncharted is my favourite franchise and I can't wait for this, but I've got a feeling I'm gonna have to. Holiday season 2014 for release!

Well, the Naughty Dog cycle was what gave us The Last of Us, I guess. It makes more business sense to debut the new IP on last gen consoles and bring over the big, well-known franchise to the next generation, but I'm with you, single-game-studio Naughty Dog being basically forced to take that risk with new IP on year one was a good thing for both the studio and the PlayStation.

So yeah, I'm weirdly simultaneously excited and bummed out by this. Still, I consider any Amy Hennig game good news, no matter what it is.

Its kinda weird there is this need for ND to create new IPs compared to other studios, I guess its a positive thing that people really want them to do something new, its just strange we don't see it when other devs announces sequel #8.

There have always been a reason for Naughty Dog's cycle. They didn't own Crash so they had to make a new IP, J&D was never a huge seller (like Crash) so they tried a new IP on the PS3.

I was really disappointed with Uncharted 3. Was very clearly the B-team that worked on that, and this might be the same deal.

I'm trying to not set my expectations high for this but seeing this on the site and then watching the video made me giddy with excitement!!! (Yes 3 exclaimation points)

This trailer feels rather rushed and is obviously lacking any gameplay or CG. It seems it was put together just to add another level of hype to the launch and I don't think we will be seeing the game for a long time. I might be wrong but I think everybody getting excited for this game might have to reign it in a bit. My guess is that this doesn't turn up til 2015.

Also as much as I loved the series, U2 was the only truly great game and I kind of wish they were attempting something new. I have a lot of faith in them to change it up, and I am sure it will look beauuuuutful but i was kind of hoping we had put sequelitis to bed with the new gen.

Fuck. Looks like I'm getting a PS4 now....

I'm fine with another game in the Uncharted universe because I truly believe it isn't about Nathan Drake or else they'd just flat out say this was Uncharted 4...not having a number leads me to be believe this is a prequel

@leebmx: Uncharted 3 may have just iterated on Uncharted 2, but I felt the original game was groundbreaking.

Uncharted 2 still looks better than almost any other game, so it's exciting to see what they can do with new hardware. That said, U2 was the last game ND made that I think was any good at all, so here's hoping this one doesn't shit the bed.

I get everyone saying that this is going to be some distant-past prequel, but I'm not sure how interested the average person would be in an Uncharted game that lacks Nathan Drake's presence... or for that matter, one that's so far removed from the modern setting that enables some of its most spectacular set pieces. In any event, I hope they're able to bring some of the pacing lessons of The Last of Us back into this series. I don't need to be shooting dudes all the time, ya'll.

Anyone else think the guy talking in the trailer sounds like Javier Bardem? That was the first thing that came to mind when I watched it.

Love the series, looking forward to seeing what Naughty Dog can do with the PS4.

I hope the game isn't so serious as the trailer suggests. I need my fix of Indiana Jones style adventure movies. Lighthearted, funny moments, great ancient mysteries.

I can't imagine how great a next gen Uncharted game will look.

The Uncharted series is just so fucking good. Uncharted 2 being the highlight but I quite liked the others also. This has got me excited, seems like someone is coming to get revenge on Nathan.

Hoping the rumors are true and this is a game about Sir Francis Drake. Would be a fresh direction for the series, plus the more games in cool historical settings the better. I'm sure it'll be very pretty no matter where it ends up taking place.

Well, alright. I was hoping they would go make some new stuff.

I enjoyed UC3 a lot, but I do think Drake had kind of run his course by the end. A new main character is enough to make me really interested, if that is in fact what we're getting. I like what Sony's done with Infamous also. It feels less like they're making "ugh, another" UC/Infamous--like how people wanted a 1950's Batman game to shake up the franchise.

So basically they are making a Count of Monte Cristo game?

The historical link back story of most of these games was secondary to me. All the Drake stuff only really mattered in the first game in any substantive way. The second and 3rd games were rather superficial related to Sir Francis Drake or not to Drake as we come to find out.

This is what I want out of the NEXT Uncharted games.
1) Make the relationships the keys to the story, they do this pretty well but they need to keep pushing.
2) Let's get some player choice in these games...dialogue trees...branching paths...choice
3) Tone down the gun violence, Naughty Dog uses 'gun gameplay' as a crutch. I want more traversal , puzzles, dialogue trees, and sneaking.
4) Naughty Dog is the master of mindless-shooting action gaming...but that is the flaw their games. Mowing down people in piles like a genocide isn't smart gameplay...it dumb. They need to take a risk that players are smart, human being who don't need to fire a gun every 30 seconds to feel occupied in a game.

It's Todd Stashwick. He's appeared in nearly every television show possible so I think he is now going to try to out-Nolan Nolan North.

I think I may be the only person here who thought uncharted 3 was a masterpiece, I enjoyed the story, the scope, the cool 1 button scene in the desert, the cruise ship physics, the drug scenes, the scene with him as a kid, etc

Would like to see more and hopefully some new awesome interesting stuff from the series

Obviously they were going to make more of these. They are incredibly lucrative. This could potentially be a system seller. I know the first uncharted was so mind blowing to me.

I was looking for something new, but this will probably be a really well made game still.

Really couldn't possibly care less about a new Uncharted game. 2 was great with some crummy spots, 3 had awful pacing problems all over but was a technical marvel...I was honestly just more interested in the development process of Uncharted 3 than the game itself. This definitely isn't getting me excited for a PS4.

Comforting? More like disappointing. I was hoping with the new consoles we'd get new IPs but nope, here's another Uncharted to go along with another Infamous and another Halo and another Call of Duty.

While I might've been expecting something new for a new generation I'm still happy to see a new Uncharted as I enjoy that series and didn't want it to go away.

I might remember this wrong, but a couple of weeks ago, did not Sony talk about how they did not like exclusive titles on platforms? Then why do I have the feeling that this won't come to any other platform such as the XBONE, WiiU or the PC?
