@ozzdog12: Absolutely. I hold the first Bioshock up to the same standards as Half-Life 2 as an industry-changing first-person shooter/adventure game. The wait for Infinite is going to kill me.

It looks alright, but I can shake the feeling that this would be a more interesting game if there would be less focus on (scripted) combat and more focus on free form exploration (Metroid Prime style).

Jeff has said in the Bombcast that this was played in front of him.

Yeah, it seems like gameplay from someone who knows what to do and isn't being given directions.  Like, there's no HUD, and you have to imagine you'd at least be getting objective arrows, or how would you know when to slide on the rails or what door to break down with your foot?

Just like the first one, regardless of what people say. It was a milestone in gaming's history

I had the same feeling watching this demo as I did playing through the original Bioshock, and that's a feeling I thought I wouldn't get from another game for a long time, let alone from the same guys. Games like these are usually few and far between, and I didn't think the lightning would strike twice, but they have definitely managed to make me want to know about the world and story, and it's pretty clear they have some crazy ideas for the gameplay. I'm way more interested in this now, I just hope the Bioshock branding doesn't hinder the team's vision for Infinite.

" Ok, this is a nitpick and I'm not saying the game won't be great, but can anyone look at that floating building and think for a second that it wouldn't fall like a rock?  Have you seen a hot air balloon?  The bag part which provides lift has to have WAY more volume than the basket it's actually lifting.  Those 4 measly little blimp things holding up that giant building is exactly as crazy as if Rapture had screen doors. Not even touching on the fact that it's obviously top heavy. Definitely more form than function in this game's design, not that that's a horrible thing. Just makes me laugh. "

It's quite irrational, isn't it ;)

Considering their attention to detail and the pretty good physics seen in the demo, it wouldn't surprise me if they had some sort of contrivance to explain the smaller balloons holding up entire buildings (or even city blocks?) These folks living there certainly aren't your cut-and-dry Americans.

Down that same vein, I remember similar thoughts in Bioshock 1, though I'm at a loss for specific examples. I do remember thinking that some things I saw would be impossible at that depth, and the pressure would probably do some terrible things to the human body.

Looks far too scripted to be gameplay, really. Even if you ARE playing it live, it'd probably just feel like a really long interactive cutscene.
Apart from that and a few graphical glitches, this game looks like it's gonna be pretty sweet.

When I first saw it, I thought the whole thing was scripted. On the Bombcast, Jeff mentions that it was being controlled live while he watched it.

So, apologies for my cynicism.
This now looks like the coolest thing ever.
