Already got all the civ stuff, thanks.

I know this has to be made, but who doesn't have Civ V at this point?

Posted by White

Or you can just wait for the summer sale and get them piecemeal for like $10.

I already own all of the expansions, but I guess it's a good way to get in on it if you waited for some reason.

Here's my question: do people actually play the scenarios in Civ games? I always just go with random matches.

Well, alright. Fine. I'll bite.

At this point, it's much, much, much more than just a director's cut or something. It's practically a whole 'nother game compared to my vanilla Civ V, and it's not like I didn't enjoy my time with that anyways.

Let the modding continue!

GOTY edition, then a Gold edition, now a Complete edition haha.

Some people really do, which, yeah, is madness. I don't do random matches though. I set up a world as a big as possible then reduce the AI to just 2 or 3 opponents. Put the game to the slowest speed. Then I build for thousands of years before running into anybody and when I do it's wild.

Just thought I'd share that...

anyways....

I wish there was an elegant way for people who bought some DLC but not all to upgrade. Come on already huh? Can't be that hard to do. Steam checks if I own the game already. If I do, apply a discount. Done.

This is what I've been waiting for for the past 4 years. I can finally play this game. :)

Posted by CrimsonAvenger

Does anyone know if this will come to Mac? I don't own a PC but I've been waiting since this game came out to get it. I've held off on buying this as I knew they'd release a complete edition but I'm disappointed there's no announcement regarding a Mac version.

Posted by Jayxeno

@authenticm: It does feel like the game is finally how it should have been on release eh? Pity I'm a sucker for Civ and have been buying it piecemeal for the past 4 years. SHUT UP SID MEIER AND TAKE MY MONEY.

Posted by TurboMan

I've played over 200 hours of Civ V. I'm ok until Civ VI.

Posted by Video_Game_King

But does it include General @ryan?

Posted by Wuddel

@crimsonavenger: This is because it has been out on Mac for years. Its cross-buy on Steam.

Edited by crimsonlordofwar

I have the free version of CivV that came with my copy of X-Com and I never felt like buying the dozen or so DLCs/Expansions, so I guess this is aimed at people like me.

Posted by Wuddel

@crimsonlordofwar: Yup. Also the expansions make this a very different and much deeper game.

FYI the new Humble Bundle is 15 bucks for everything Sid Meier including Brave New World. I don't know if it includes all of the DLC, all the various new civilizations, but it's good enough for me.

So Gods and Kings isn't in the Complete Edition? Because I've been looking to get that expansion and this seems like a good time for it!

Edit: read that wrong, it's the Civ IV Complete edition in the bundle, not V. Still looks good!

Posted by Itwastuesday

so is this mode like Civ Colonization?

Posted by MeatSim

I still got tons of Brave New World to play.

That is an incredibly straight-laced video description for an Alex joint.

Edited by J23

You could get this, or you could pick up Europa Universalis IV and Conquest of Paradise and colonize the New World as like, Ming, or the Papal States or whatever. Though it's interesting to see the two strategy giants competing like this.

Posted by sabin1001

Yeah, not sure what they were thinking putting this out at the same time as the new Humble Bundle that has pretty much everything for $15.

Posted by cbirdsong

@sabin1001: That Humble Bundle will be around for one week, and normal people walking past the PC games at Target will be wholly unaware of it.

Posted by Livingitlarge224

@chaser324: I always play random matches also. As a kid I loved playing on the Earth map with the civs in their (more or less) proper starting locals

Posted by HatKing

All these years later, complete editions don't sound any less shitty. But I guess it's better than the frivolous game of the year edition alternative.

Posted by Pr1mus

I think they're competing with FF IV for most release of the same game. That's 5 now i think?

I thought Civ V is great, but games start to drag until you get the modern day and futuristic toys..

After I got bored with Civ I've started getting into the Paradox games (EU4, CK2, Vic2, Rome) And I feel like that's a real step up. Much more detailed and a more historical feel. I like the idea of trying to survive history or change history rather than making it up like Civ.

Posted by Zevvion

Already have everything Civ. I don't need more. I can still waste hours playing it, but am looking forward to playing a completely new Civ. Civ VI, I'm ready for it.

Was gonna say that. I would suggest GB adding an update to the blurb under the video title though saying that its on humble bundle. Might make the charity a bit of extra cash?

Posted by jaycrockett

Hmm I just bought the humble bundle at the average, so I got Civ V and Gods and Kings. Should I play my first game of V with Gods and Kings or not? I was thinking of starting with the base game.

Edited by Illuminosopher

I have never played a Civ game, Just bought this on humble bundle ... I love Civ games.

Sure hope they fixed the bullshit win conditions in Brave New World.
