The Sniper Is A Huge Jerk in Monday Night Combat

This game looked pretty sweet until I watched this trailer.
 
They might as well have voiced him with Gilbert Godfrey.

I've been under the impression that this was a TF2 rip but if it's suppose to be more inline with Demigod I'll give it more of a look.

Wow, all the "Omg TF2 Ripoff" in here is idiotic. Yes it has that sort of artstyle but gawd just labeling it as a ripoff and saying no buy is the most ignorant thing you could do.

I KNEW halfway through the trailer all of the comments are going to contain "tf2" in them.

I'll have to come back to this thread a few months after it's released and see if all the hate comments will turn out to be l4d2 style or ultra delicious mc4 style. CRISPY!

Looks like The Grid to me, awesome. Who cares if it looks like TF2? Isn't that a good thing?

Protip: Cartoonish games with wacky character classes is not TF2.

It's unfortunate that (intentionally or not) the style is so evocative of TF2, because the comparison does them no favors.  Even on Giant Bomb, where people should be informed enough to know better, and people are explicitly TELLING them so, every other comment is calling it a crappy clone.

TF2 (with many awesome, free updates) costs 10$, this stupid clone (probably without Dedicated Servers and where you play mostly against bots) costs 15$. The choice should be clear.

In TF2 medics deploy "ubercharges," and this game is being developed by a company called Uber Entertainment. I just liked that after several things in the trailer itself reminded me of TF2, even the developer's name seemed to be referencing it. "

The people saying "This looks like TF2." are obviously not talking about game mechanics. They're talking about art direction, giving the different classes distinct personalities, and humor style. And they're absolutely right. It's a poor man's TF2 in that regard.

For everyone calling it a "ripoff" of TF2, I can see why you say that, judging strictly from it's visual style.  While yes, there are some very direct nods to the franchise and shares some classes I highly recommend giving the game a shot when it comes out.
 
It doesn't really play like Team Fortress 2 at all.  If anything, it plays like Uber mashed League of Legends into the class based shooter genre.   I had the distinct pleasure of playing it at Pax East up in Boston and it is an absolutely blast.  It definitely stole the show.

Seems like it'd be interesting...but not for very long.

The only thing they could be going for is a TF2 feel.  They're even trying to imitate the comedic dialog of TF2, but failing.  No matter whether this Sniper is meant to sound like an annoying 12 year old on XBL, it doesn't come across as funny, or entertaining.  You can't force a certain type of personality into a game that's clearly trying to be a +1 to the likes of TF2.

It's like the bastard child of the Scout from TF2 and Adon from Street Fighter. No good.

Heard this was rather Team Fortress 2ish, but didn't realize it was THIS Team Fortress 2ish. 

This game looks awesome, I think its pretty obvious they are playing the TF2 card, thats pretty OK with me, I wish more games looked like this instead of uber heavy and depressing.

Looks like what TF2 would have been if it was designed for the 12 year old console kiddies. Dam that character was annoying.

Well if I bother to get this game I sure won't be playing sniper

I still think the actual game looks cool but there was nothing funny or charming about this video.
