Never much of a fan of F1 racing titles, but given their huge success with the rallying and traditional racing titles of Dirt and Grid, I have high hopes that this title will be pretty acessible too.

Weather can easily change each track, surprised more racers haven't tapped into this easy replay factor.

Thank goodness they took the filter out. Looks much better now.

One question though, did I hear him right in saying that if you're out on wet tires while the track is drying that going through puddles will cool them down/prevent damage? Er...

Im a F1 fan so im really looking forward to this. Probablly the game i want most this year. Just hope they have focused on making the game realistic and more a simulator than a acrcade racer.

Just looking at the comments here tells me how different this place is to the race sim communities I usually hang out in :) They all hate this game, the lighting filters especially. The next generation of racing simulators likely to come out this year will include a weather system much more advanced than this.

However, this simulates the experience of being an F1 driver, which no race sim will ever do. I'm still to be convinced. I'll wait for a demo to pass judgement.

Holy crap, this looks amazing. I wonder if this is more simulation based racing or if it is more arcade styled. I imagine it borders the simulation line but still has an arcade feel like DiRT 2 did. I never played the TOCA series, does anyone know how they played? I wouldn't expect this to be Forza 3 levels of simulation racing, but I definetely wouldn't mind it.

This is bad, very bad. You dont realese a trailer of features that from the look of it are very much in the stage of work in progress and for now really dont  look like they work as they should.

I'm curious as to what games those racing sims are.  Many don't even include weather and if they have it they don't simulate it in a complex way.  Codemasters games are the type that will simulate the rain effects to an extreme amount, then have the cars control like radio controlled toy cars.

The brown filter seems to be gone, but they still have some weird bloom going on.

Very different, Ferrari, Red Bull etc, are better cars. And HRT, Virgin, etc. will struggle to make points.

Yes, wet tyres are made of a softer compound and wear out at an extreme rate on a dry track. Therefore, driving through puddles will cool them down and reduce the rate of tyre wear.

As a F1 fan, I gotta say the weather is the most interesting factor in the race at this point, especially now that there are no fuelling strategies to be had. Whenever there's rain forecast it becomes so unpredictable and in my opinion much more fun to watch!

Yeah, I thought that was a little strange too. Overall though I am always open for a Formula 1 game.

The Codies really know how to bridge that sim / accessible feel in a racer - this won't appeal to the hardcore but then they have to put out something that will sell to the regular F1 fan. From McRae to Grid and Dirt, they work better (i.e. are more fun to play) when they can go off track. Unfortunately, the F1 license is so regimented in terms of presentation and content (car and driver image, branding, competition mode etc) that the games often end up as dull as the real version. Tracks are bland, races turn into processions with limited overtaking opportunities, and the only fun bit is the pile-up on the first corner. Oh, and rain just makes things slippy and grey.

@FrankCanada97:  yeah that's what i'm talking, i'll be kind of boring if this game ends like real F1 with red bull better powered than the others, and 5 teams that struggles to even finish a race lol

I did not have much hopes when I first heard of this game... hope has been raised.

Hopefully this game won't dash my hopes and dreams to the jagged rocks of reality.

I was under the impression that the puddles would be something they go through in maybe .05 of a second on a drying track, therefore the benefits not really being there.

I'm definitely excited, I've wanted an F1 game to play for years and years (don't own a PS3).

Narrowly focused? It's an F1 game, and it looks to be the F1 game that fans have been craving for a while now. My only concern is how the physics will feel since I understand this uses a bunch of tech from the Dirt engines.

This looks to be hitting all the other points I want though; realistic weather simulation and tyre strategy, simulation of a full racing weekend including practice and pre-race setup, accurate representation of all tracks and cars and hopefully a kickass online setup with support for racing leagues.

I have to agree with Zatoichi.

Operation Flashpoint 2 was marketed in exactly the same way and all the features they promised in their elaborate trailers turned out to be a bunch of bullshit.

So while I hope they deliver a decent F1 experience (was about time someone attempted it), take everything with bags of salt until the demo arrives.

I'm still saddened that were about five years deep into this generation, and there isn't a rally game with rain! I miss the crazy-rain-night driving from Rallisport Challenge 2, and the challenging roads of Japan from Colin McRae.

This is the great news though. In an interview one of the guys from Codemasters have said that now they've got this rain technology working in F1 2010, it will be possible to bring it over to other Ego Engine based games. So we may see the next rally game with proper rain.

Ah, the benefits of using a single engine for multiple developments.

Well truth be told, I'm just really happy that Sony lost the license, so now at least more platforms can enjoy an official Formula 1 game.

That said, I don't think it's really hard to cater to everyone in todays times. Look at GT-R, you can play it like an arcade racer or go simulation all the way (yes, yes, there's other more hardcore sims out there - I know), so I don't know why they wouldn't do something like that with this game.

I'll have to wait an see how it turns out, right now I'm having quite some fun with F1 mods for rFactor.

If this game includes the upgrades on the cars from the 2010 season then this will be awesome!!!

Or giving the player a choice for the upgrades! That would be ever better!!!

Can't wait for this on PC. Ego Engine 1.5 is glorious to behold in DX11 (Dirt 2) and this will only improve the situation.  Hope it's got a good sim feel so I can hook up my wheel for it.
