What's behind the corner? A stack of boxes...

Also I actually want a vita less now...when I was ready to get one day one before.

I love uncharted but I think that no game could justify the Vita's existence...

Lumines, katamari damaci, and SF X tekken all confirmed, thats already better than 6 months of 3DS's game catalog.

Yet all the games you listed could have come out on other platforms. I guess Katamari Damaci is using some of the touch pad stuff and as far as actually having games lined up I guess the Vita has an advantage over the 3DS in that department but it still doesn't justify why the Vita is the Vita. Game play wise the Vita offers something slightly different then other platforms but really the number of games that take advantage of those touch pads and screens will most likely be few and far between the console porting.

The DS provided a solid platform for touch game play. The psp has some good games but none of them needed to be on the system itself. Patapon could have been on the gameboy advance! The 3DS has yet to bring anything new, perhaps the alternate reality stuff, but in general it really is just a new update to the ds like the DSi and I see the Vita as no different then the 3DS. That was a mess of an explanation and it isn't meant to sound confrontational but I wanted to try to explain my point. Also I have never played any of the those franchises you mentioned, just looked them up, so I apologies if I misinterpreted one of them.

I'd of rather just watched this without the commentary. Even by PR standards, it sounds really awkward and cliched - especially with those forced mid-sentence chuckles. It's like your dad who's never played a game before explaining it to you.

Game itself looks okay, kinda... generic in a way, since it's all stuff I've seen plenty of before now. I mean trying to make your way through a burning building? Well it's not like we haven't already seen that exact kind of set-piece in an Uncharted game before. Nate casually writing off death-defying situations with jokes with a love-interest? Already had two Uncharted games completely made around that already.

I know the game itself is pretty ''ordinary'' as an Uncharted game because the main draw is that it's on a handheld with all this silly touch-screen stuff, but I think this is also a sign that I'm getting to be pretty bored with the usual tropes of an Uncharted story. It speaks a lot when I admit that even with Uncharted 3 it's actually the multiplayer that I'm looking forward to more so over the campaign

Seems like it's missing some of the excellence the main Uncharted series has, but hey--it's still Uncharted, and it looks pretty good.

How can you say that literally NO GAME, despite how good it is, could justify the Vita's existence?

You know, it kinda takes me out of the whole experience when you have a character like Drake who's quippy and probably a cool guy, but he sneaks up behind a dude and breaks his neck; they just go on seeming vulnerable and likable as if nothing happened. No panted breaths afterwards (although that happens a lot but usually in scripted events). Yeah, I know, video game. Weird. You'd think based on his personality, he'd have a real problem with it.

I imagine that in high adrenaline situations, people will do some crazy things; I don't think they'd act the way they are though. I bet that there would be a lot of silence or yelling (might make for a boring game as well -- it's a fine line, and I'm not saying I know how to make a profitable, great game). I know that Uncharted is often comedic, but it's not quite good enough to pull the realism of it all part off if that's what it's attempting to do.

In a few ways, I think it kinda sucks that we just accept it, because it's video games. I still like video games, and I'll probably enjoy this a lot.

The best game for the Vita will most likely have no reason as to why it couldn't have been done somewhere else so the game will still be good but the system you play it on wont have much impact on it. All I'm saying is that the Vita itself isn't special and that it's just a PSP with better graphical capabilities...maybe justify was a bad word for that...

I would really like to see a gameplay demo using the buttons instead, with the prompts and such and not this Touch play, I get that Touch is going to be great for some games on the Vita, but Uncharted does not need them.

@nrh79: I think what you're asking for is a much shorter game ultimately because I think it's totally doable but it couldn't last the amount of time that most people are willing to spend on a game. You could see a character like Drake struggle with these things in a two hour movie but you'd be pretty disappointed if that's how long your game lasted. When you start going beyond that length of time things start to get unrealistic again because believing a character can suspend what he is willing to do to survive can only last so long before someone really just starts to break down.

Really hate the way the guy is talking about the game. I think people would like these promotional videos more if people just talked in a conversational tone.

The touch screen controls seem really awkward and are practically shoehorned in. Don't get me wrong, I love touch controls when done well, and I've been a huge fan of them on DS and iOS. This though, this feels like Sony pleaded with them to use the screen as Uncharted is the biggest title they have planned for the Vita at the moment. Close combat using the buttons is all about timing, and needing to let go of one side of the device to suddenly reach in and start jabbing on the screen is horrible design.

Touch controls work when they are either used all the time as the main control method, or when they can be used in conjunction with buttons without needing to alter hand position. For example, on GTA Chinatown Wars on the DS I could lean my thumb in to quickly swipe a grenade throw or change weapon. The Vita just doesn't look ergonomically designed for such a thing.

Boo to the balance beams too. They were kind of pointless in UC1, I always fell off and they weren't fun in any way, just annoying. Bringing them back adds nothing, and a giant glory balance meter is distracting and reduces immersion. Even if the beams are back, they don't need the meter as the arm position alone shows how likely Drake is to fall.

I may be picking up a Vita as I currently don't own a PSP and I need a new device to play my PSP games I bought on my account. I'd definitely pick up the Uncharted game, because it's Uncharted. None of the above stuff is a deal breaker, but it's not really the path they should be taking with the controls.

Looking solid, though worried about it not being a Naughty Dog game.
