Man, I'd be really interested in Dead Rising 3 if it wasn't a Dead Rising game.

Nice, the 5 games that I was planning on getting on launch day.

They look pretty awesome, can't wait!

Ryze & Forza both looked like next gen, so that's nice. I even think Ryze would be a fun weekend rental, but not sure about an actual purchase. BF4 & DR3 both seems like light incremental steps.

That 60fps BF4 looks weird to me.

And it is like Batman in that regard. As far as I've heard on another podcast, it seems the attacks you deal are weighty and you can't just mash buttons in rapid succession. That is counter to God of War's combat system. So yeah, if you're going to compare it to either of those games than it apparently is much more like Batman than God of War.

I keep seeing the preview image on the front page and thinking it says, "Thanks Obama."

no one seemed to really appreciate it as the views for quicklooks were higher than the ones for the produced vids and they had to spend a lot more time editing them. considering it's mainly vinny and drew only behind the cameras it's kinda hard for them to keep up the production levels of, say, Gamespot, so it's not really worth it to them. and tbh i come here for their personalities anyway so i don't care really how slipshod the videos are as long as it's them in front of the cameras or talking over the video.

plus shorter production time = more content! and you also get the occasional Iceland trip or GOTY videos so you get that side of things too. :)

PS3 was a bad DLNA client. (transcoding is the only thing that made it viable) All modern TVs have that feature now, and you most likely have something else capable of streaming. If not, buy a Raspberry PI, much better than a limited DLNA client.

My Panasonic plasma can play MKVs natively from my PC and that's coming up to 2 years of age.

I was kind of surprised to see BF4 running at 60FPS, even if it still doesn't look as nice as on PC. I suppose I assumed that more importance would be placed on better screenshots than higher framerate.

Are the videos just formatted poorly or is Dead Rising really that crappy looking and washed out?

Because "console hardware suits" at MS are somehow mandating "grim dark" to all devs as if they have an insanely niche agenda to that end or have any quantifiable means of generating more sales "because dark" while Sony "console hardware suits" are espousing the high road of bright Bob Ross rainbows? You're joking right? I think you're looking too hard for something that isn't there.

Call me crazy, but the Dead Rising 3 demo that happens to take place at night in the midst of a zombie apocalypse probably makes sense to be graded a little dark and has more to do with Capcom devs making relevant creative decisions independent of any "console suit" at MS much in the same way it wouldn't make sense to employ a kiddy cartoon colour palette that makes more sense for a family friendly kid focused one button Platformer like Knack for instance.

Also, forza 5 dark? Really? Have you seen any demo ever for that game? It's saturated as fuck. Ryse has a distinct period piece palette set against the defining colors of Rome inspired by blood and steel - it's about evoking a mood and feel and it's called art direction. Not everything has to resort to full blown saturated bright candy gloss to avoid being lumped into some imaginary conspiracy you want to believe is true.

It's the point, taking away basic features of the consoles from decades ago?? Don't forget you can't stream anything at all now, whether from an external hd or from your computer. And i put custom music on sports games a lot, it makes no sense. It also can't even play blurays out of the box, what in the fuck?

I also feel better about XBO now. Forza is my jam, but all the other stuff had me concerned. It's good to hear the Kinect isn't totally useless.

Watching this just makes me super extra bummed Dead Rising 3 isn't coming to PC.

Not sure what Brad is seeing in Dead Rising 3, but I am not a DR guy so...yeah. I don't see much ambition there as its a formula that they are like 5 games in (2 separate DLCs, 2 main games, and an alternate version of 2). Not sure how hard it is to basically recreate the same experience over again and then tweak a few things.

I've looked on other sites a bunch and the reason things look washed out greyed out is because Dead Rising 3, Ryse, Forza 5 etc are a bunch of dark motherfucking games on a console with dark by design motherfucking video output and it gets on my nerves.

Dead Rising 3 co-op on IGN with a developer = cannot see shit. Unless setting the monitor to eye-ruining GAME mode that overclocks monitor display circuits or whatev. Dark Souls 2 beta test = can see shit no problem all the time.

This isn't a capture equipment problem. This is game design and console hardware suits deciding grimdark = better sales. Hopefully the crew will just boost the brightness on their TVs rather than boosting the captured output. Hopefully reviews will adress games being too dark and the console output being very dark on purpose. Dark games next generation will become the brown games of the start of this generation.

Compared to this, PS4 games paint a brightly coloured happy Bob Ross painting of feelgood.

Xbox looks shitty on the games front, Ps4 looks shitty on the basic features (stuff that is just standard by now like streaming from pc, external storage and music cds). Next gen seems fairly disappointing so far, to me at least

Regardless of platform what really excited me in the footage was the sheer number of zombies being displayed in the Dead Rising bit. I can't say I'm that familiar with the series but to see a game actually have that number of AI entities in an area at one time without having to load them in was pretty impressive. IO are about the only developers so far who've really managed to achieve that before with some of the levels of Hitman & K&L, but I'm pumped to see more games that bring that crowd feel to environments.

Regarding Dead Rising 3; "Electric Crusher"? Come on, video games. We all agreed that a hammer with electricity is always nicknamed Mjolnir. It's a fact.

Apart from Forza I thought all of that looked immensely dull.

It sounds like I played similar demos to what the guys played but instead of Battlefield 4 I played Killer Instinct. I was at the giant Xbox One in downtown Vancouver and the demo station space inside was kind of trailer sized, they were running demo stations along both walls so there wasn't any space for them to setup the Kinect stuff.

Dead Rising 3 felt like a Dead Rising game meaning the weapons are fun and over the top, and aiming the guns manually felt better than I remembered from Dead Rising 2. In case your curious, without a Kinect to detect the controller shake the game was requesting I tap the face buttons to escape zombies.

Ryse is better than I was expecting, the game is more responsive and has less animation priority than it appears, meaning that you can roll or block almost instantly like a God of War game. Not really sure there is enough depth to the combat to stay interesting for a whole game though.

Killer Instinct seems like a solid fighting game, it is responsive and seems to have a decent amount of depth but in the one match I played against one of the Xbox girls she thoroughly kicked my ass. Killer Instinct seems like a decent replacement for the Dead or Alive games of the first two Xbox launches.

Forza 5 seems solid. I tried both the McLaren P1 (the car in all the advertising) and the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe, both controlled distinctly despite the demo running with all the assists on. The Impulse Trigger effects were the real standout for me you can kind of feel the traction and the texture of the road, it is super cool.

I walked away from my experience thinking that I will buy Forza 5 and Dead Rising 3 as my launch games. I will at least play the free version of Killer Instinct if not buy all the characters. I think Ryse has potential and I don't think it will be terrible but I won't be grabbing it at launch, maybe in the doldrums of January if the reviews are decent. Also the Xbox One controller without the battery pack is ridiculously light, it feels lighter than a 360 controller without battery.

Man, most of these games look pretty good. Although the Dragon game looks pretty but stale and boring.

Also, is it just me or is anyone else getting a Shadow of Rome vibe from Ryse, I loved the shit out of that game!

Those were sequels, so not as high as expectations as for an original IP.

Ahh to be so to play so many video games on so many consoles in one life. I take what they say with a grain a salt because of that reason as they crustily sit on set with their smoking jackets and jaded views on a console not delivering the type of games they like to play or wowing them with something because they been watered down with thousands of titles in their pedigree. They are entitled to their opinions like everyone else even if they are playing the back 9 of the golf course.

I support all consoles because I love video games and glad their is competition to keep companies working for the consumer. I do plan to buy and play games on both ps4 and xbox one but I can't help notice the comment if it's a multi-platform game of course I will play on ps4. I can't help but think while PS choose to spend time mocking xbox with videos about game sharing and brush over cloud support saying we have plans to out source cloud service and will have more on that soon. The business model to have companies rent dedicated servers or for cloud computing is a huge advancement in next gen and Microsoft has that built out already. Microsoft isn't without their issues but it just seems like nothing they saw was worthy of their time but it more related to their over saturation of games and because their aren't more games like dive kick.

This video has been more convincing than anything MS has put out on the console themselves. I have never seen a system be promoted so terribly.

The Xbox One actually has a fairly solid lineup as far as launches go. Still leaning towards PS4 since that's where all the international titles will inevitably land, but there's no shame in buying the Xbox at launch.

Looks very good. Solid launch titles overall, nothing that will set the world on fire, but I think they'll be competent and enjoyable.

Love that dinosaur hanging in the car in the BF4 footage. The kinect stuff is damn cool though. I know it's just leaning, but still cool. What I really want to see more of is multiplayer BF4 on these consoles. I need to find out how big the player limit is in a match. 12 on 12 isn't doing it anymore.

I can see what you're saying. What I meant by like God of War is that it'll be very guided like that, not somewhat open like Batman.

Combat-wise, I think it's probably more like AC2 then God of War or Batman. Again, very counter-focused, but more step-by-step than flowing.
