Overview
Vultures are inexpensive hoverbikes used by the Terrrans for scouting and harassment. Though relatively fraile, they are extremely fast and deal good damage with their grenade launcher. They can be upgraded to deploy Spider Mines.

Vultures were initially thought of as weak units until SlayerS_Boxer used it extensively during his reign as the best Terran player in the world. They are now a mainstay of the Terran Mech army. Vultures are extremely potent scout and harassment units. With the Ion Thrusters speed upgrade, the Vulture is the fastest unit in the game. Vultures deal 20 concussive damage, allowing them to kill Drones and Probes in a mere two hits (three for SCVs); a pair of Vultures can clear an over saturated mineral field in seconds. With Patrol micro and enough space, the Vulture can kill a nearly infinite amount of Zerglings and Zealots. Their ability to plant spider mines all over the map gives the Terran commander unparalleled map control and awareness. Vultures are essential to protecting Siege Tanks and serve as a buffer to prevent melee units from closing in on them.

Vultures have been weakened in SCII. Their spider mines have a short engagement range; they are relatively effective against light units. In multiplayer, the Vulture has been replaced by the Hellion. Their role in protecting Siege Tanks has been fulfilled by the Marine.
