The Nintendo Wii is a home video game console released on November 19, 2006. The Wii's main selling point was the innovative use of motion controls that its signature Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers allowed for. It became the best selling home console of its respective generation of hardware.

N-Zone has played Red Steel 2.

German Nintendo magazine "N-Zone" went to Paris to pay Ubisoft a visit. They got to play a combat demo of Red Steel 2, and talked with Ubi's Jason Vandenberghe about the game, and MotionPlus in general. I don't have a scanner at my disposal and I don't feel like translating six pages of text, so a low res camera pic and a summary of the new info will have to suffice for now.

I don't know if any of the screens they have are new or if they're the same that were already posted from that other magazine. If there are new ones, I can make a larger picture by request.

[[There are supposed to be images here, but somehow giantbomb refuses to let me upload them at the moment]]

    THE INFORMATION

    • The game was build for MotionPlus from Day 1. M+ is definatly required to play the game.
    • There is a news embargo by Nintendo regarding MotionPlus, which has now been partially lifted. We are to expect announcements of more Wii titles in June, including more titles that work exclusively with M+.
    • The combat seen in the leaked preview tailer is exactly what you're going to get. Attacking, defending and showing off with the sword is controlled exclusively and delicately by the motion of your arm. Button presses are only required for your firearm.
    • For strong hits you need to execute a forceful blow. Little movements or waggle will have no effect. You can, however, change the relation of your real-world force to the ingame-force. (i.e. MotionPlus sensitivity)
    • RPG elements for character buildup
    • upgradable weapons
    • Inventory is somehow gesture-based
    • Five areas in the final game, only one (the desert one) has been shown so far
    • the story has no relation whatsoever to the first game. also, the story was not given priority in development.
    • 15 different enemy types
    • 30% linear, 70% "free roaming" levels, whatever that means.
    • 6 enemies on screen at max
    • 10 hour single player, no multiplayer
    • "if you want lots of details, you have to buy a 360 game." ~Vanderberghe
    • There will be boss battles
    • A significant amount of the play time will be spend swordfighting
    • no blood

So there you go. Doesn't sound too bad so far, does it?
They also said to expect a lot of MotionPlus-related news in the coming weeks.  :)

Looks impressive.  Really like the changes in style even though as some point its weird that it's even called Red Steel 2.

    Potential for awesome: high.

EDIT: In fact I just saw "that" trailer for the first time. Potential for awesome: very, very high.

But since you have the mag, how do the images that aren't from the pre-production video look?

Yes, it's the same info. And the same magazine, for that matter. I didn't know it was already a week old.

As for the images, it looks pretty much the same as the trailer, only with worse lighting/shadow.

In-game of the scene in the trailer.

That's pretty cool, they seemed to have a different quality but pretty close to the pre-production video in the other scans but they were low quality there. Nice to see the look is almost intact, if these are truly in-game that is. Well, they should show it @ E3 then we'll see how it is.

It still looks pretty good, considering it's a Wii game and all.

Well here's some new info then, though I dunno where these guys found it. So, yeah, destructible stuff.

Lead game designer Roman Campos Oriola told Nintendo Power:

“The basic idea is that bashing things with a sword is fun. So we plan to have as much destructibility in the environments as we can.”

Nintendo Power was shown a demo where the game designer actually pounded a car with his sword. Now we’re talking, or are we?

“We’re also building a gameplay mechanic around destructible objects.....but I can’t say more than that at the moment.”

They mentioned that in the N-Zone article as well. Destructable environments.

Thanks for posting this man. I both hope the controls will really be great, but also that there are running around, shooting and stuff (free roaming?).

Trailer was cool and all...but all I saw was a dood pretending to be a badass.  I want to actually see someone just playing it and find out how it is.

Until then, though...Nintendo sure knows how to build some hype about something.  I remember when Red Steel was coming out for the Wii, and the hype was huge.  It was a disappointment in the end.  NOW, they are hyping Red Steel 2 with Wii M+...

...so hopefully, lightning doesn't strike twice.

Well its ubisoft that stood for the hype, but... Yeah, a lot of people were let down by the first game, but when I picket it up half a year later very cheap, I knew what to expect, and actually enjoyed the game. Great music btw^^

Impressive that it was actually in-game. I'm not sure I understand the point of calling it Red Steel 2, since it has nothing to do with Red Steel, but I guess it's sort of a cool name and most of the gameplay ideas and concepts are being carried over.
