X-Ray Visor
The X-Ray Visor allows
Samus to see beyond her limited perspective. The device uses x-ray technology to see through many objects that may interfere with the character's line of sight. It is able to detect enemies that are even invisible to that of the thermal visor. Additionally, it has the ability to see through human beings as evident by the hand of Samus being nothing more than bones.
Appearances
The X-Ray Visor first appears in
Super Metroid. Used to make hidden blocks appear, and fake walls disappear, it is updated and integrated into real-time gameplay in
Metroid Prime. it receives new and sleeker look in
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. The differences between HUD in Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption are mostly with the color tones. With the X-Ray Visor on in Metroid Prime 3, everything takes on a deep blue tone with objects sporting a look similar to that with the Heat Visor.
Similar Devices
Although the X-Ray Visor does not appear in
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, the
Dark Visor is similar with many of the same functions. A similar object, the X-Ray scope, can be found in Super Metroid, which allows Samus to see through fake walls and water and additionally to see invisible walls, special blocks, and hidden items.
