So I made a post yesterday about my 2nd RROD, and because i'm impatient I went and got another 360 (holiday bundle pro) and I checked the voltage on the back which was still at 16.5 and the power supply was still 203 watts. How is this possible?!

There's a sure fire way you can tell if you have a Jasper.

On the back of the console, above MADE IN CHINA reads a collection of numbers

If the first four numbers are 12V --12, then you've got a Jasper. = AWESOME

    12V -- 14, then it's a Falcon = KIND OF OKAY

12V -- 16, and it's a Xenon (or it's revision - Zephyr). The version most likely to RROD. = SHIT

I've been searching and Jaspers are as rare as hen's eggs at the moment.

I've read rumours about shops still trying to flog off Zephyrs. You should take it back and check other consoles before you buy. The clerk can do it through the little opening on the back of the box. Sometimes they can see the voltage numbers. I got a guy in a department store to check half a dozen for me over the phone and they were all Falcons. Helpful guy.

You got yourself a Falcon there, son.

Less chance of RROD than the Xenon/Zephyr but still not entirely bulletproof.

To help isolate a Jasper, it's recommended you use this thread. Not everything you can see [before opening the box] will full-proof your chances of the newest chip.
