I'm getting a 360 in September, probably at bestbuy. If any of you have boughten pretty expensive things from best buy then you should know they ask you if you want to add like a 2 year warranty for blank. I think it depends on how much the thing your buying is but I cant imagine it being over $100. Is is worth it to buy a warranty with my 360? Or should i just send it to M Soft for free. How long is the Microsoft warranty when you first get your 360?

Should I get a warranty for my 360?
About four or five months ago, I bought an Xbox 360 Arcade to replace my third broken 360 that was out of warranty. It didn't have the three red lights, so Microsoft wouldn't cover it. I put the console on a prime credit card that features one year warranty extensions on everything I buy on it, then of course paid the card off when the statement cut like I always do. So, I have a two year warranty for free and an additional year for the three red lights.
If you're over 18 and employed, look into getting a credit card with this feature. It can save you a lot of money, especially if you use it responsibly and the card has no annual fee.
"Vaxadrin said:MS only covers RRoD. What if the disk drive faults, etc? Then it will cost the OP ~$100."You'll be fine. 360's don't break."I was saying the same till my 360 RROD. Back to topic I think MS warranty covers so no need for BB warranty."
Depends on the price. I personally think it's a big pain to send it to Microsoft and wait for it to return when you could just exchange it for a new one.
"Depends on the price. I personally think it's a big pain to send it to Microsoft and wait for it to return when you could just exchange it for a new one."Most retail outlets don't exchange the 360 without a warranty.
Personally, I would urge you to think seriously about the warranty. My first 360, a launch box, never gave me the RRoD, but the disc drive ceased to spin after a year and a half. Of course, I was too naive to have the warranty instated, so I was forced to buy a new one.
Lots of things can go wrong with the 360. You're going to want the reassurance that, in the case of any shit going down, you'll be covered.
