So far, the Xbox 360 has been pumping out game after game after game.  And in time, they will have a big selection of RPG's especially with FF13 coming to it.

So, do you think its the PS2 of this Gen?

I would say no console so far comes close to the PS2.
However, in terms of games so far, the closest one is the 360.

I'd say yes for now because it's had the most time on the market now compared to the PS3 and Wii.

I'm in 100% agreement and to extend the comparison, I think the PS3 is the Gamecube of this generation.

Right now, yes.  In the future, no.  I don't think it will ever get to that point, simply because of the Japanese culture.  No matter about the fact that Microsoft was able to get quite a few big Japanese names to make/help them out on a good number of decent games, but Sony is a Japanese product. 

I think the ties would tend to hold true to Sony, although Microsoft definitely does have the upper hand, both in terms of quality and quantity.

game wise? yes. Sales wise? No.

i dont think it is. no console has come close to matching the PS2's massive sales figures and game database. it is selling relly well but if you look at the Wii its already outsold the 360 in North America which its homeground.

I would say yes because the PS2 was the best console of last generation, much like the 360 will be. And a wealth of JRPG's helps that cause.

The 360 has what the ps2 had and that was the games. No console will ever surpass the ps2 sale wise.

I think that MS has learned a lot from Sony during the last generation ... and have since utilized all the acquired knowledge to come a-top. 

Maybe.  Honestly, I'm not really sure if the gap in unit sales between the PS3 and 360 at this point is as wide as it was between the PS2 and Xbox back in the day, but I feel like that gap is smaller and it seems to be closing sooner than the PS2/Xbox gap was.

Third-party developer support is a difficult metric to use as well, because so many games come out for the Wii these days, even if most of it is shovelware.  If you choose to ignore the wealth of not-quite-games being developed for the Wii and focus only on games that "matter", the 360 certainly looks a lot more like the PS2 than the PS3 does at this point.  Whether this remains to be true all depends on console sales numbers in the next year or two.  If PS3 can achieve relative parity with 360 in terms of its user base, this advantage will disappear.  If not, 360 could well be on its way to becoming this generation's PS2 in that regard.

However, the one thing PS2 had that 360 doesn't, and likely won't any time soon, is a strong stable of first-party exclusive titles.  A lot of people have a tendency to forget that Sony is actually a huge software publisher in addition to being a console manufacturer, which is why great titles like God of War, Gran Turismo 4, and Shadow of the Colossus were all exclusive to the PS2.  Sony is still purchasing new studios too, and although some of those purchasing decisions may seem suspect (honestly, I think they would have been better served taking the money they spent on the Motorstorm devs and giving it to Square-Enix in exchange for FF XIII exclusivity), Sony's internal development force is growing.  Because of
this the PS3 will always, in a way, be the PS2 of this generation.

Right now, no console is close to the PS2. I mean, if you think about it, it might happen soon enough that the 360 will come out on top, but only time will tell if it will triumph.

Nothing wil lbe as good as the PS2, but due to the number of exclusives the 360 is the closest system out there right now to it.

360 is no where near the PS2, given time it could be. But I doubt it will surpass the PS2.

Yeah, alot of the sales will be from the singstar bundles and what not, something xbox is lacking.

Not really because the biggest PS2 games were yet to come out at this point in the generations it didn't show it's cards as quick.

Xbox has alot of great games, and alot more are going to come.

It can dream, the PS2 went on for a 10 year cycle and rumors say that MS wants to get rid of the 360 in a few years.

Yeah there is alot of epic games coming/already on the xbox360. Im actually quite suprised. My xbox is actually one of the best purchases iv ever made.

well in usa xbox 360 is a hit, but only in usa, gb and in eastern europe (because 1)they put chips and play downloaded games; 2)cant afford ps3)

We will never see another ps2, a console which dominated the market to the poit it was a monopoly.The wii is selling like hotcakes but it isnt the ps2 with a plethora of exclusive, and the wii wont have the lifespan to reach the sales of it.

that depends on how you look at it. as far as sales go wii is the leader, if you go by games then there's the 360. if you go by the fact that it's a playstation than the ps3.

No even close, look at the sales. Last time I checked, the PS2 didn't have a 33% failure rate.
