    Yo-kai Watch

Game » consists of 9 releases. Released Jul 11, 2013

An RPG from Level 5 about a town filled with Yo-kai, traditional Japanese spirits, featuring Pokemon-style battles. It's a hugely successful cross-media project with other related tie-ins like toys and an anime. Nintendo localized the game for the West.

This 3DS game looks really cool.

Kind of like an SMT game mixed with Ni no Kuni along with some original ideas. It definitely has a lot of influences coming from many directions. Also, that bass lick.

It's called Youkai Watch and I think youkai means demon in Japanese.

Yokai is more like a ghost or goblin than a demon, but you're right this looks good.

I don't know if it plays like Ni No Kuni at all, but I could tell instantly that it was a Level-5 game.

This looks pretty good. It also has so many Japanese mythology references to give many people a run at the Wiki. Curious to see if they would translate it in a way for educate it audience on the references instead of hiding it.

Not in a particularly interesting way though, other than the music. Gyroscopic bug catching and fishing doesn't sound fun, nor do nintendogs-style touch screen minigames.

That certainly looks interesting. I'd buy if it came out here.

A lot of Level 5 games never leave Japan, so I wouldn't be surprised if this didn't come out here in the Western world. Is it a download or a retail title?

Looks pretty great, someone get 8-4 on this, Creatures from Japanese folklore appeal to me far more than Pokemon at this point.

This game is supposed to be the next Inazuma Eleven or Little Battlers for Level 5. That is, a series with little western appeal that is targeted at younger Japanese boys/teens and hopefully will spawn successful anime and the like. I would be surprised if it hit the US. Maybe a European release some time but very few Level 5 games make it to the US. They've made a total of 17 games for the 3DS, and that is counting all of the Guild games as a single game. I think something like 4 of them have been released here.

Also, the combat in this game doesn't look nearly as interesting as the combat in many of their other RPG's. Shame they have moved to more standard turn-based stuff.

Woah! I'll definitely keep an eye out for this. The little mini games in battles seem pretty neat. Hope this gets translated at some point!

Looks cool. Too bad 3DS is region locked.
