Apex Computer Systems were formed in 1988 and consisted of brothers John and Steve Rowlands. They created games exclusively for the Commodore 64 and became known for pushing that systems graphics to the utmost limit. Their first game was Cyberdyne Warrior, a platform shooter which was published by Hewson in 1989. Shortly after this they entered a relationship with Thalamus who published their next 3 games. In 1992 Thalamus collapsed as the Commodore had started to decrease in popularity, the brothers decided to self publish their next game which was Mayhem in Monsterland which is often considered to be one of the last great C64 games. The company ended after the release of this game, John and Steve currently work for Infinite Lives.
