inb4 this game really takes off while Titanfall 2 was sent out to die, proving to EA that this is what Respawn should be making and not Titanfall 3.

I know this was recorded on Thursday and all, before it got leaked all over the press, but still got a chuckle over Ben questioning how they managed to keep it a secret.

I'm bummed that there's no wall-running but this looks great. Might be the first BR game I'm getting into since PUBG.
Not played it yet so I'm unsure about the decision to force players into a group, maybe they'll consider different modes for solo play as it matures.

I was so excited for this, but now learning that there is no Titanfall 3 + no wall-running just makes me super sad. Will still play this, but it's such a bummer!

This is honestly the best gaming surprise I've had in quite sometime. Even though a little leaked out ahead of time, I never expected it to look this awesome.

not in love with the overall art direction/aesthetic- but the game certainly seems polished and well considered.

This seems clever. I hope that it works out for Respawn and allows for them to make more mainline Titanfall titles.

I also wish these multiplayer games didn't feel the need to amp up the silliness. I guess I prefer my shooters more dry, no dragon skinned guns or bright yellow coloured character skins; also what's with that one dude's samurai armour and rice hat??

At least it seems a little less insufferable than weed leaf sights and crude emotes, but like, you don't have to be Fortnite or Overwatch.

immediately jumped into a match, love how it plays, but the squads only things is going to kill it for me, literal first teammate was a dude complaining about having to play the 'black chick'-and I can't find a way to mute mics....

I was excited when I heard "Titanfall battle royale" until I learned it doesn't have any mechs. Still might check it out since it's free, but that's a bit of a disappointment.

The background music in the customisation menus is strikingly familiar (jump to the 42:00 mark for instance). It reminds me of Bittersweet Symphony but I'm not sure that's it: regardless, it's definitely extremely reminiscent of something to me.

Edit: The moment at 47:15 is hilarious. Brad's low on health so his teammate tries to give him a syringe but Brad completely ignores him only to immediately request a syringe as soon as he gets out of the room. haha

I've been pretty out on Royale games, but this seems promising!

Yeah...with no mechs and no parkour stuff I don't see what distinguishes it from any other battle royale game. That's the stuff I like about Titanfall.

The problem is that you actually do if you want to succeed. It attracts both new people and hardcore people because there's a loot loop that appeals to both audiences.

I feel like a system where the final 4-or-so squads get to drop Titans in could be pretty cool. In so many other BR games, the last remaining people tend to run and hide for as long as possible, so giving them mechs and essentially encouraging them to duke it out could be a cool way to change it up. I get how Titans could be hard to balance though.

Man, EA dropping a cool game like this out of nowhere 2 weeks before Anthem releases. Makes me wonder how much faith they actually have in that game.

A lot of this game speaks to me, unfortunately it's squad based and BR. If this was a singleplayer campaign driven thing I'd be all over it. Guess I should just go play Titanfall 2 instead though.

@whalesex: I have no issues with its progression system or its loot model, my comment was more directed towards its character stylisation and surrounding flair around gun skins and player banners.

Fifteen minutes in and I realized I couldn't give less of a shit about this game. I'll be so glad when the battle royale thing goes away (or more accurately, since we all know it's not going anywhere, it fades into the background and becomes just another multiplayer mode I can ignore rather than the entire core of a game). I swear, I keep expecting the announcement that Borderlands 3 has been cancelled in favor of creating Borderlands Royale.

These games cost 10's of millions to make man, yes it's greed it's frigging capitalism. You act so surprised that a publicly traded company is in it for profit.

The shooting looks pretty nice, but man.. To me it's like they threw everything that made Titanfall 2 stand out away to fit the battle royale stuff in. I also wonder what the system specs are like. For Titanfall 2 the recommended specs ask for 16 GB of ram & a 1060 6GB. Those are specs you can deal with as an avid gamer in the west, but i doubt it will catch on in places like China, Korea, Phillipines & Taiwan. Most internetcafe's probably specced their pc's to get Fortnite running, which recommended specs are about similar to the minimum specs of Titanfall 2. I guess PUBG's specs are pretty close to Titanfall 2, so maybe it will all work out.

I also question whether people are willing to hang out in a teambased game and be waiting on a revive for multiple minutes. To me it always seemed that one of Battle Royale's more attractive features was the idea that you could always bounce out to a new game. If you're a streamer, are you really going to sit there being dead while the viewercount drops? Will this game be able to become big when streamers return to the battle royales where they can have a constant uptime for their viewers?

And man.. it kinda bums me out that these abilities all look so cookie cutter and similar to other games that are already out there. an AOE shield or AOE damage skill might be useful, but there's no creativity in that. Dota & Overwatch have characters roll around like a wrecking ball. I want to see more stuff like that.

Final thought: Gibraltar? Mozambique gun? Are country names hot now? When do i get to shoot a Malta with my Zimbabwe? :)

@doncabesa: Seems like PUBG type games are a cash cow. Only need one map to release as full game then add stuff as you go along and get praised for it. Like how jumping was a massive deal for PUBG. We are in a new era. Free to play games are now MORE lucrative then PAY TO GET. cant hate. I only play less and less new games these days for like 1 hour so guess i can play these till i hit the grind and quit without paying a cent. I still have old games in my backlog so ill ride out this fad. Notthing people should get too angry about but i understand the fear of slippery slope. Cosmetics etc.
