Overview

On April 12th, 2010, departed heads of Infinity Ward (Company) - Jason West (Person) and Vince Zampella (Person) - announced their new studio, Respawn Entertainment, with Electronic Arts (Company) providing the seed capital to start the company. Zampella will be assuming the role of General Manager and West as President. Respawn Entertainment had a publishing deal with EA Partners, which gave EA publishing rights to the company's first game along with potential sequels and spin-offs. During this time Respawn Entertainment owned and maintained control of their intellectual property. Co-founder Jason West left the company in March 2013 with Respawn stating that his departure was due to family issues. On June 6, 2013, a leaked Game Informer article revealed Respawn's first title, Titanfall (Game), a sci-fi mecha first person shooter for Xbox One (Platform), Xbox 360 (Platform), and PC (Platform). Titanfall was officially revealed during Microsoft's E3 2013 (Concept) press conference to much critical acclaim going as far as to win Game of the Show. Titanfall was released on March 11th 2014, with its sequel, Titanfall 2 releasing on October 28 2016. In November 2017, EA acquired Respawn Entertainment and now owns the Titanfall IP.
