Word On The Street Is That Online Is Broken
Early testing doesn't look good. I tried quickmatching, and it kept giving me "game is no longer available" errors. I tried custom match, and the same thing--except once I did get through to a list of games, but as I was browsing the list it switched to a loading screen and locked up. I had to reset my 360.
So yes, seems that online is borked.
Had the quick match, Game not available thing. Was starting a 4 player game online all ready when we went to select stage 2 people dropped straight away which was odd but we played some 2 player and was really fun so if they sort out these minor things it will be a good online experience
I've been able to connect to games just fine, though I can't the same for others. I've been in lobbies with four people, only to have two drop out as soon as the game starts.
I've been having problems, too. The same "game no longer available" error like everyone else. I hope this gets fixed soon.
I'm sure it'll get patched. Online functionality is a huge problem for game developers, since you can never fully test it until the game is released. Fortunately an online component means an internet connection which means it can be patched. Hopefully it won't be long before that happens for Castle Crashers.
I played about an hour online with 4 others (two of them had a good connection) about 45 mins in one droped out not sure if it was a connection thing or he just left. About 30 mins later I got a "game is no longer available" error I didn't think much of it cause i needed to go to sleep.
Today i tried to play with a fellow GB'er but everyone that joined save one had a really bad connection and it didn't last 10 sec. Hope this all gets patched up. overall though still happy with the game. invite some friends over and play Local.
"Had it lock up on me this morning while playing online.Braid had the same problem for me.It might also have some sort of problem when you move your hard drive between machines. I seem to have lost my save between my home 360 and my work 360."
Behemoth seems to be aware of the problem

I had the loading screen lockup while searching for online games issue as well. I tried a couple more times and got into a game and played fine. Seems to be hit or miss right now.
"Yeah, I've had trouble getting on. I want to play online, but I'm content with playing by myself for now. I'm upgrading my character like crazy!"Playing with yourself: always a winner in my book ;)

Me and my friends bars were all fluctuating like crazy, and I have a great connection.

"Had it lock up on me this morning while playing online.Yeah, there seems to be problems with saving or loading characters on a different console from the one they bought the game on.It might also have some sort of problem when you move your hard drive between machines. I seem to have lost my save between my home 360 and my work 360."
Threads like this are completely inappropriate for posting spoilers without warnings. You guys just ruined the ending of Castle Crashers for many people...they come in here expecting to read information about the current state of online play, and instead read about how the game ends. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
It has some problems right now...I only had 1 specific time where it logged us out of playing and said "game is no longer available' back to the start menu. Besides that needing to be fixed, a few frame hitches where it appears as if the entire game or console is freezing for a minute, then starts up again fine. Its not a huge problem for me, sinc eit only happened once..but I hope it gets fixed, the game is just too cool and I don't wanna see these problems bring it down.

It seems connection issues are the rule rather than the exception though. I've played with a bunch of friends and we've all had our share of problems. Even when playing with friends, the connection dies pretty often, and forget about using quick match or anything like that. Horribly broken, and just terrible that the game would be released in its current state. Let's hope for a fix REAL soon.
I'll admit it, I smirked when I read that.
Yea its pretty broken. Its definetely still playable but it tends to drop every 3-4 levels for me :( Its gutting cos Castle Crashers Rules
""I talked to Tom Fulp(lead programmer) and many of the beta testers just recently and they all say the game worked flawlessly before launch. The Live issue is a similar situation to what happened at Halo 3's launch, too many people are attempting to connect online for the amount of bandwidth Microsoft has partitioned for this specific game. Tom is currently working on expanding the amount of bandwidth avaliable for the game so that more users can be online at once. A "patch" might not even be nessicary because it is a server side issue. Either way they are entirely aware of the issue and it should be fixed soon. Also don't blame them, blame yourself, I mean afterall the issue is simply that too many of you are trying to play online at once."What the hell? Where was this posted? Don't go quoting stuff without saying where you read it.
I'll admit it, I smirked when I read that."
You mean the certification process they use as a reason why they take such a large cut of XBLA revenues?
What makes it worse is that it seems that most of the XBLA game bugs revolve around Microsoft specific APIs, like the way profile saved games work, online play, matchmaking, etc.
"Step 1: Market your game as a 4-player online co-op adventure.Actually, I find online works perfectly, as long as I'm playing with someone on my friends list.
Step 2: Release absolutely amazing game with completely broken online capabilities.
Step 3: Take your blog offline.
Step 4: Fly to Seattle.
Good times.
