A barrage of Yeah Boyees. 1

There are certain games that, for whatever reason, I don’t foresee myself attempting to play, let alone review. I can’t touch the Madden games because I won’t settle for anything less than the Pittsburgh Steelers winning sever consecutive Super Bowls, then crossing over and winning the Stanley Cup at least twice. I won’t attempt Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport because I’m about as confident in my ability to handle cars as Indiana Jones is with snakes. And I never envisioned myself attempting...

And now for something... Different (in music games) 0

When I first saw DJ Hero, I was not really looking forward to the game. I am not really into the music (or so I thought) and I figured it was just a "cash-in" game riding the coat tails of Guitar Hero and the like.   After seeing the gameplay videos, it really looked like a lot of fun and I was getting tired of Rock Band. I have put way too many hours into Rock Band and I was in need of something different and I went ahead, drank the Kool Aid, and put down for a pre-order of DJ Hero.  In additio...

DJ Hero is a welcome challenge to plastic rock 0

Jeff's review is pretty spot on - this is a solid 4 star game, but if you are into techno and DJs, and if names like Daft Punk and Grandmaster Flash mean something to you, add a star.  The game allows you to flip the highway and the side you want the buttons on.  This isn't the lefty flip option, which flips the turntable and fader, this is just letting you put your hand on the inside of the controller or outside.  I found it easier to go from the outside, but scratching the inner blue button is...

    Spin that shit! 0

I had always wondered how hard it was to DJ. Well this week I found out when I played DJ Hero. DJ Hero is the latest crazy plastic-peripheral based game that Activision has pumped out, but who knows? By the time I have written this review, Triangle Hero or Clarinet Hero could be hitting store shelves near you. Just watching a video of this game in motion looks very daunting. It seems a bit of a challenge to spot everything happening when you aren’t even playing the game, so when I finally got...

Interesting idea, but doesn't cut it. 1

Some people might remember a time only half a decade ago when music/rhythm games were considered niche. It wasn’t until the release of Guitar Hero in late 2005 when the world would suddenly fall head-over-heels in love with this genre. Since then we’ve seen an explosion of rock-inspired music/rhythm games riding the wave of Guitar Hero’s success. Activision’s “Hero” franchise alone has bestowed us a staggering sixteen titles in its extremely short history. Their latest entry into the world of mu...

SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR INNER GUITAR HERO, EMBRACE YOUR DJ HERO! 0

SAY GOODBYE TO YOUR INNER GUITAR HERO, EMBRACE YOUR DJ HERO!Of all the current genres of gaming, the music rhythm genre continues to be over saturated with titles that are either poorly executed or simply copying off an already successfully established formula. Every year publishers continue to throw out new titles with small insignificant changes knowing that the majority of gamers will eat it up, in the desperation for more songs to play. While this as been successful for publishers such as Ac...

Finally, a new hat in the music game genre. Results are good! 0

Finally, a new hat in the music game genre. Results are generally good, if not difficult, but hey....I couldn't play Guitar Hero at first either, now I can do consistent 5's on hard mode. Anyways, some thoughts on whether or not this fulfills my childhood fantasy of being a DJ :-p It's available on the Xbox360, PS3, PS2 and the Wii. This gets an 8/10 from me. The Good - DJ music game that comes with a turntable controller. If you're familiar with Guitar Hero/Rock Band, some things will be a bit...

DJ Hero marks a great beginning for the series, and is great. 0

DJ Hero manages to mix fantastic gameplay and some of the best music ever put into a rhythm game, and is a great start for the series. Just like any other rhythm game you've played, DJ Hero lets you do what you probably couldn't ever do; make music. "Scratch and Mix the Hottest Hits." It sounds so simple, but that idea is put to such clever use in DJ Hero. Sure you aren't really making it; it's already been premixed. But like all other rhythm games you've played, it is so much fun, and DJ Hero l...

A Scratching Good Time, or a Lackluster Mix? 0

Bursting into what is already one of the most oversaturated genres of the generation, DJ Hero attempts to innovate music games while renovating an already clichéd formula. The result is an unexpected menagerie of exciting new potential and a recalling of what once made the genre so addicting and unique in the first place. As the initial cinematic sequences start, the initial reaction is one of a “here we go again” approach—the same cartoonish figures and awkward transition cuts present in the m...

DJ Hero is an absolute gem 0

A combination of a devalued “Hero” brand, a high price, animosity towards Activision and some bizarre marketing decisions (Emimen and Jay-Z - their music is hardly in it) has put off most people. It is a real pity as DJ Hero is an absolute gem and goes a long way in refreshing the tired rhythm game genre. DJ Hero’s eclectic soundtrack has music in it to sort all tastes, whilst the combination of tight controls and excellent mixes makes for a really enjoyable game. Even the Turntable peripheral i...

    dj hero review 0

I love this game. Its a rythym game that is very hard when you get to expert level. My whole family loves and plays this game. 2 problems with this game 1. no one plays online, so your kinda stuck by yourself . 2. it makes you feel like you can really dj , you cant, or i cant .  I love the beck mixes and jay z mixes. i even have a mic so we can do rap and stuff....

FreeStyleGames give a rhythm action title worth waiting for 0

Like most gamers, upon the announcement of DJ Hero , I shook my head, went about my daily business, and laughed at the mere mention of the game. Well, how wrong could I have been!? It's difficult to think of a game recently that has really had be so enveloped in its up-taking. From my first scratch on the plastic turntable, to my first successful and tricky cross-fade at the left of the controller, every portion of the game has taken me by storm, literally. It's not that the soun...

    DJ Hero Review 0

By - Craig H.  The DJ Hero peripheral seems overbearing at first with the crossfader, effects knob, buttons and platter but feels right once you play a few tracks and get the hang of it. The build quality is good and does not feel as though it will fall apart anytime soon. The concern that most buyers have is with the crossfader whichwill take the most abuse (the platter is next in line). The crossfader has held up spectacular during our gameplay and seems that as long as you are not slamming it...

Great music with a shallow game 0

DJ Hero consist of one thing: good music. They fact that it’s a game is just a lite icing on the cake. By that, I mean I don’t understand why this was turned into a game. The DJ peripheral is pretty cool looking. It looks like a real DJ kit, but not a very expensive one. It’s a game, so why would we really need a high dollar DJ studio to unlock achievements and trophies with? The hardware is sturdy and after beating the game, the device still functions just like new. The controls on the...
