2 stars.
Boring, filled with glitches, barley working and essentially a modded version of a 2 year old game.
That's what I expect it to be, anyway. But who am I kidding, it'll still get 10/10 from most reviewers who are willing to overlook bad plots and blatent game breaking glitches and bugs because it happens to be a popular game.

I loved Fallout 3 and this is that but better." @forestofdeath said:well, i guess that's fair. but from what i've seen of previews, nuked DC looks hella similar to nuked las vegas. the only thing that would possibly draw me towards buying this game would be quests that felt as exciting and original as fallout 3's offerings. " @MooseyMcMan: I assume it's probably possible for them to do so (Screened has done it), but, you're right, I've never seen them do that even with the worst games. "Screened and Giant Bomb rate on different scales. You'll never see a game rated below one star on Giant Bomb.
" @shivermetimbers: That...is pretty damn extreme. "Maybe, but if Kerby's Epic Yarn can get 5 stars (I'm sure you couldn't have predicted that), anything is possible. 4 stars would seem obvious due to the material. However, I'm willing to believe that the game will have improved combat, RPG elements, and story to justify 5 stars.

What purpose would a ten-point rating serve? The ten point rating systems commonly employed by other review sources are badly skewed to the point where anything below a 7.0 is considered utter trash. And don't even get me started on the fanboy arguments over goddamn decimal points." @Blair said:

Probably three stars. The Giant Bomb guys don't seem to really appreciate Elder Scrolls style RPGs. This was painfully apparent on that one Bombcast where they were spewing all sorts of nonsense, saying that it was a good thing that Obsidian was giving this game a definite ending.

"a definite ending that let's you know that if you do this, it's going to end the game for you. that's what I thought they were saying
I predict 4 stars unless:
It has a ton of bugs, in which case 3. I know some people say that's what Fallout 3 had but my personal experiences with it were great so I doubt this will happen.
or
It somehow has an amazing story, in which case 5. I also doubt this, though not being tied to being from the vault gives Obsidian some interesting options.
" Probably three stars. The Giant Bomb guys don't seem to really appreciate Elder Scrolls style RPGs. This was painfully apparent on that one Bombcast where they were spewing all sorts of nonsense, saying that it was a good thing that Obsidian was giving this game a definite ending. "But the non-ending ending doesn't really work. Sure, you can keep running around and finish any sidequests you didn't bother with before the endgame, but why not just do those before the endgame and let the narrative run its course?
Fallout 3's ending was poorly done for a few reasons:
1. The original, pre-DLC ending forced you to sacrifice yourself despite being in the same room as Fawkes, who could do what needed to be done and not get killed in the process.
2. When the ending was changed via DLC, you can ask Fawkes to handle the situation for you, and the game treats you like a coward even though this ending path is what is supposed to allow you to survive to see the DLC you just bought.
3. Even after the change to the ending, it's still the same series of static flash cards telling you how the world changed through your actions.
If Obsidian can put together a more definitive, worthwhile ending for New Vegas, more power to them, because Bethesda dropped the ball when it came to capping Fallout 3.
@NekuSakuraba: this was more of the answer i was looking for. :P i hope it'll surprise me, honestly.
" @MooseyMcMan: I assume it's probably possible for them to do so (Screened has done it), but, you're right, I've never seen them do that even with the worst games. "No. They said somewhere that it gets 1 star by default just from landing on shelves.
And I'll guess 4 as well.
3 stars because there will probably be at least 1 or 2 glitches that could be game breakers unless Obsidian did something crazy like optimized the fallout 3 engine then I'd say 4 stars. If it's too similar to fallout 3 to the point that it's lacking originality then I could see Jeff giving it 3 stars for that reason. I seriously doubt that it will get 5 stars or 1 star.
Still, what made a some of Obsidian games and Bethesda games great were the weird glitches and bugs that would sometimes happen that sometimes made the game better like flying horses or people exploding for no discernible reason.
I would give it 5 stars and so would Jeff because the game is now absolutely perfected and even refined!
I'm guessing either 4 or 5. Obsidian looks like they're going completely crazy with this one, and they're building on an engine that, while it is a couple of years old, has had many, many issues ironed out.
Plus, it has many of the folks from the original working on it, so they are going to get the story and atmosphere as perfect as it can be.
No, it is not equivalent to a 6.0. Three stars doesn't equate to anything on a ten-point scale. Read the site FAQ. Three stars is defined as:" @Hailinel said:
So 3 stars is equivalent to a 6.0 score? Anyway, the only reason why I think it would be better is because it can be compared with other sites easily since most of them use a ten point rating. I don't get it, but if most of you like the 5 star rating system then fair enough, don't mind me. "" @OtakuGamer said:

"The halfway point. An inherent appreciation of this game's specific gameplay style, characters, subject matter, and so on may play as big a role in your enjoyment as the actual quality of the game."
4 stars, same as Jeff gave 3. Expecting the review to be along the lines of it adding enough to keep it fresh but if you didn't like Fallout 3 you're not going to like NV.
Well it's kinda silly to compare one site's review score to another. That's the problem, people are comparing scores when they should just read the reviews and compare the points being made. Score numbers are so arbitrary, and different for each site that comparison is pointless. So 3 stars is equivalent to a 6.0 score? Anyway, the only reason why I think it would be better is because it can be compared with other sites easily since most of them use a ten point rating. I don't get it, but if most of you like the 5 star rating system then fair enough, don't mind me. "
If I had to wager a guess, 4 stars? It's a highly-anticipated sequel to a game that's only had it's reputation improved over the last two years by great post release support. Obsidian CAN make good games when prompted to, Alpha Protocol seemed like an issue of time and budget. I quite liked the weekend I spent with it. Look at KOTOR 2, that game was pretty awesome for an outsourced sequel. I have a feeling people who liked the first game will like this in equal measure, which is why I can't see the score changing that much.
Not a huge Fallout fan though, so whatever.
" I'm expecting a Metacritic average of less than 85%. I reckon the game will be criticized for being too similar to Fallout 3, even though that's what most people want. "If reviewers did their job like you're predicting, Madden would have the lowest score in metacritic history.
