Poll Can you decide what your favorite game of all time is? (341 votes)

Yes 65%
No 35%

I have been playing video games for 25 years now and I can not choose a favorite game of all time. I am wondering if other gamers also can not decide on a favorite game of all time. If you can what is the game? Also long long have you been gaming?

Sorta depends on how you define best, but for a long time if you asked me this question I would quickly blurt out Deus Ex, and I think I'll stick with it. I can still clearly remember how that game blew me away over and over from the first moment I played it.

I get the sentiment of finding it hard to choose though, especially after indulging heavily in games for the last few years. I've probably played more games the last 5 years than I had my entire life before that and it's definitely changed my perception of games. As for how long I've been playing games, it's somewhere in the 22-24 year area I think.

@unilad: I'm totally with you dude, it's probably one of the first games I played that showed me I could actually be invested in characters and plot in a videogame.

My favorite game of all time is F-Zero GX. I make a point to delete my save (but not the original save), start fresh, and play all the way through at least once a year, maybe twice, if work starts getting slow. That being said, I'm 26 and I've been playing for about 25 of those years.

Worms Armageddon. It was my first real "online" game, I played it for years, I once was quite good at it, and I created / co-created a couple of different game types.

It greatly saddens me that every version of Worms that Team 17 has released since then hasn't even come close to the quality and feature set of WA.

Tetris. People will still be playing it in 50 years while games like Ocarina of Time, Super Mario Bros., Half-Life, etc. will be lucky to be in museums.

I'm going to guess that I've been playing 15-17 years...ever since my brothers got a Genesis. I'm 22.

Yes, Persona 3, mainly the Female protagonist route in Persona 3 Portable. I first started playing games when I was about 7 or 8, but when I was 12 I stopped gaming for quite a number of years, and just started up again about 8 years ago.

And playing games for about 10-15 years I'd say

You know, I think I'm finally coming around to saying no on this. About 5 or 6 years ago I would have said Serious Sam: The Second Encounter without hesitation but as much as that's solidified as my childhood answer I have little emotional attachment to saying that game is my favorite at this point. So with that said, I suppose pinning a moving target has little value to me when the statement is meant to be absolute.

I've played too many games in the last 5 years and as a result too many games over my 16 years playing games to effectively boil away all but one.

Good choice. Really looking forward to Rebirth, it's a bit of a shame though that it's next year, I was hoping it would be released sooner.

Been playing games for about 18 years, and my favourite one is Planescape Torment. First played it at around age 11, couldn't finish it because I didn't understand English well enough. When I went back and finished it at age 15 it had a profound effect on me that no game has been able to replicate.

Yup, I've kept a running list for years now (first just in my head and how on GB). Thankfully I'm the type of person to embrace new experiences and advances in storytelling/graphics/sound so my top games list is constantly evolving as new games get released that keep exceeding my expectations.

At the moment, my top two games of all time are Persona 4 Golden and The Last of Us, both of which came out within the last year. Tis a good time to be a gamer indeed.

Yes, Metroid Prime. Many games come very close for me, such as Half-Life 2, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, and Super Mario World, but Prime takes it for me. Such a flawless execution on a theme and aesthetic.

I started gaming in 1992.

Best game ever made: The Last of Us

Most influential game on my young mind: Metal Gear Solid

Most influential game on my real life: Counter-Strike

Most time wasted on a game: WoW

22 years. Best game ever made has to be favorite by default I guess. It's just not the most influential game for me. I also firmly believe that a better game than The Last of Us will be made and I will then freely declare it as the best game ever made. Games get better all the time and old games are mostly bad, even if they meant a lot to me at the time.

I answered no, I just cant pick one. For me, its like trying to pick a favourite song, it depends on my mood at the time. If i had to make a short list though:

Disgaea (any)

Fire Emblem (almost any)

Saints Row the Third (Although I have a feeling that 4 is going to replace it)

Mario Bros. (I blew up my black and white TV by leaving it on so i didn't have to start again)

Oh and 20 years, maybe a little more.

Would have to be Half-Life 2. Never fails to entertain me even after a bunch of playthroughs. I've been playing for around 26 years but I'm fairly new to competetive games. So I wouldn't be surprised if a Dota, Starcraft, Battlefield or CCG grabbed the #1 spot in the future.

Well, yes. It's a close call between Counter-Strike, Guild Wars and World of Warcraft, but i guess WoW is my favorite.

No other game have given me that level of entertainment, fun, frustration and satisfaction as those three games.

One of the games that I go back almost every year is Castlevania SotN.

I supposed that's my favorite game of all time.

Oh for sure, Conkers Bad Fur Day. It was a perfect game in my mind. Great single player campaign with a lot of variety in gameplay. From surfing lava, to carrying a bomb on a timer, to peeing on stuff to riding dinosaurs. A multiplayer that not only had a fun twist on regular tdm ( see gas cannister), but had unique game modes of its own based on story( cavemen vs raptors fro raptor eggs). The game had a memorable soundtrack and really a character and humor of its own. Im not saying it was the best game, im saying it was A perfect game.
