Check out what I made: the Giant Bomb Concept Venn Diagrammer!
Also, if your eyes are being scorched by the colors, chill! They're much more mellow in the latest version.
So I got bored tonight and decided to finally sit down and make something with the Giant Bomb API that I've been dreaming of for awhile now: a web page where you would put in the names of two video games, it'd grab all of the concepts for both games, and put them into a Venn diagram (Game A-unique concepts on the right, Game B-unique concepts on the left, and concepts that the two games share in between).
An hour and half or so after starting, I emerged victorious!
So that's all for now, folks! Maybe next time I post a blog I'll have my main project complete enough to beta-test :)

" Takua108 is credit to team! "I wish I could have said it better. Nice job, dude!
FFFFFFFFFFF....
Protip: it's okay to use colour values other than FF.
Nice work tho! Wish I had more time to mess around with it, but I will come back when my eyes stop crying blood.
This is interesting...

Apparently in Starcraft 2... there is no Cloak.
This is actually a fairly helpful tool for filling out some game pages!
Yeah, this is one of the primary reasons for me making it. I know that there's a bunch of games that should share more concepts, but don't, like StarCraft and StarCraft II, the Genesis Sonic games, Mario games, etc." This is interesting...

But yeah, thanks for the feedback, guys. I'm glad you all enjoy it.
So I changed the color scheme to a much less brain-burning one! If you really like the old, hipster website one more though, you can switch it back by going to http://api.imcalling.it/venn/?c=1. :D
Not only is this handy, but it has the makings of a proverbial comedy goldmine. I just did Punky Skunk vs Castlevania SotN and found they actually had things in common!
EDIT: Actually, it's also handy for seeing what things need updating in the Wiki.
Oooh, lookit Dead Space vs Resident Evil 4.
Super Street Fighter IV vs. Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3

Very cool. It kind of goes back to some of founding ideas behind Giant Bomb - seeing all the ways that different games are linked together (*remembers fondly that 'How to build a bomb' episode*).
And yeah, I just checked Left 4 Dead against L4D2 and there's an awful lot more concepts which should be shared. A useful tool indeed.
It burns my eyes, like all good web design. This is pretty damn cool. If only more people were making awesome stuff with the API. My progress has been halted by the inability to turn my computer on.
"Massive damage? *sigh*
At first glance, I thought the the last thing on that VS column said Titable menus, and I suddenly wondered what the hell happened that I missed that from both games. "
Does anyone have any suggestions for stuff I could add to this, or similar stuff I could do?
I'm trying to work out some way for you to be able to look at the Venn diagram for, say, StarCraft and StarCraft II: WoL, notice that some stuff from WoL should be copied over to SC1, check some boxes, and then generate a bookmarklet or something that will auto-fill out the form on the wiki page editor. I think I might be able to do it :D
