Poll PS+, Games with GOLD, Humble Monthly. Do you subscribe/play? (314 votes)

I have PS+ 81%
I have GOLD 33%
I have Humble Monthly 11%
I rarely actually play the games I get. 31%
I play at least one or two. 43%
I play all the games I get. 4%
There's a fourth service that gets you random games monthly. 2%
I'm happy with the games. 34%
I'm not happy with the games. 14%
I just like getting new games all the time. 37%

So I recently got an x1 and with it a gold subscription. And in an effort to play more PC games I just got Humble Monthly. So I'm now getting a crap load of "free" games every month. Maybe even too many. Where do you stand on these services?

I am particularly curious about Humble because no one ever talks about it.

Crap I forgot options for playing all/most of the games...

Or did I... I'm sure I screwed something up.

Last year I would have gladly voted "Happy with the Games" and "I play all the games", but for personally 2016 PS+ offerings have been either really, really bad, or nothing anywhere close to my interests.

I still at least attach most of them to my account, but I really don't use my PS+ for anything right now, since I don't currently play an online game. If there isn't a big online game on the horizon when it comes time to renew, I'm going to cancel.

I have PS+ right now, but I only subscribe when I have a reason to. Which would be Overwatch in this case.

The free games are nice, and I play some of them (a couple were even my favorite games of the year), but I have never felt the need to stay subscribed just for the "free" games.

I don't. There's very little in the gaming scene that interests me now, so paying for a sub would be a waste. The only service we're subbed to is Netflix. I also don't play on consoles anymore. I might go back to PlayStation in the future, but currently their complacency and lack of effort dismays me. Some things I'd really like are more exclusives that stand out, optional username and region changes (or display names that can be shared by multiple users and credit card-based region changes, like on Steam), a more versatile controller (not the same that we've had for eighteen years) and free cloud storage for non-subscribers. It seems silly to ask for monthly or yearly payments when you're barely trying.

Paying a subscription fee to receive random goods strikes me as a foul combination of wanton consumerism and gambling. Repulsive.

105 Little Deviants

That's the list for all three Sony Platforms, but even if you only have one, PS Plus is always worth the money to me. The day I can honestly say I don't feel that I got my 50 dollars worth from their offerings in the last year will be the day I cancel my Plus subscription.

Except I actually won't, because multiplayer.

With each passing month I keep wondering why I keep subscribing to PS+ as I hardly ever play any online multiplayer anymore and I haven't seen a free game that has made me want to play it one bit.. ehh.. pretty much since I bought the PS4? The inFamous DLC wasn't all that great but it did get me to buy the base game which was awesome. I played Pix the Cat like twice? I feel like a dope since I keep subscribing merely out of habit and $50 a year isn't breaking the bank but simultaneously I'm getting so little out of it at this point that I might as well be flushing that money down the toilet.

I'm a little jealous of all the cool backwards compatible games XB1 users get that I would much rather replay than most of the indie stuff we get on PS Plus. Even if I wanted to make use of the horrible PS Now streaming service it's just straight up not available in my region, which is kinda hilarious but whatever.

I have had PlayStation Plus pretty much since the beginning. It feels like the amount of games I'm interested in has gone down over the past year or so. The Rocket Leagues, Grow Homes, and Resoguns of the world are more of the outliers these days. Lately its been random indie games I've never heard about, wouldn't have found out about otherwise, and wouldn't really be interested in playing anyways.

The ongoing joke is people clamoring for Knack, because that is a "real" PS4 game. I'm totally fine with indie games, but at a certain point it would make sense for the PS4 offerings to start shifting over more in the retail space, even if it is more once in a while, like how Injustice was about a year ago. The retail games aside, I've felt like I was interested in other indie games than the ones that were on offer in 2016.

The PS3 is dead to me, so I don't even bother claiming those games. As for the Vita, it's sort of the same thing with the PS4. The perception is the Vita has no games, which isn't really true. It is a dying console, but it has a ton of games thanks to indies and the steady games of games from Japan. But as with the PS4, I'm getting a bunch of games I'm not interested in. I am still waiting for some of the JRPGs to make their way to Plus. Tales of Hearts, Sword Art Online, The Legend of Heroes. Any one of these franchises I would either like to play, but haven't bought the game for whatever reason, or with something like SAO, I would be willing to try even though I know there's a 50/50 chance I wouldn't like the game.

I'll keep PlayStation Plus as long as I have a Sony product in my living room. I just wish it was better like it was in the past.

i had plus and gold for a long time but I barely play console games so it's not really worth it

if there's something I'm interested in I'll resub for the month (which I'm doing this month with the crew), but I haven't really been drawn to the games on either service that much this gen

i tried humble monthly once just to get ark for the low price, and ended up getting wasteland 2 out of it. it was a good deal, but too much of a gamble to keep it going. I've already owned at least two games from each of the bundles there have been so far

I used to be subbed to PS+ but, it stooped making sense once the focus shifted to a console I have no plans of buying. I keep thinking about subbing to Humble but, most months I could buy the game(s) I am interested in for less than $12 in a sale.

I have been pretty happy with Humble Monthly so far. Its hard to say whether I've REALLY gotten my money out of it, but I put a good bit of time into a few of the games each month. I just started in on Wasteland 2, which still retails for $40, and I had been planning on buying it. Stuff I already have I can just give to friends who want stuff.

I sub to PS+. I get at least 4 playable games a month (PS4/Vita) and grab the PS3 ones just in case I ever pick up that console. I think it's worth it. It exposes me to games I might not have otherwise taken a look at.

PS+ and Xbox Live Gold, mostly for multiplayer reasons. The "free" games are just an awesome side benefit. I try to play at least some of 'em.

I subscribe to XBLG for the games, since it really is a good deal over the course of the year. I subscribe to PS+ for the multiplayer, since the PC side is really dodgy for many games.

I have PS+ the free games were a side benefit to me, I just like being able to play MP games with my friends whenever I want, but I've played some really good games because of it.
And I have Humble Monthly as well, so far so good. Every month as had at least one game that I very much wanted if not two, and I even just got a copy of the Forest from it and gave it t a friend and we've sunk hours into it all because of the bundle.

I never understood why people liked PS+ so much. Renting a game based on a subscription you don't necessarily want is a bad deal to me. Furthermore, I have never, ever, seen a game on there that I wanted to play and didn't already own. If I'm psyched for a game, I'll buy it so I can play it. I'm not going to wait for months and then be happy when it becomes a subscription service.

I have a PS4 but I can't remember when I last had PS+. I kind of don't care for paying to get random games each month that I probably won't play anyways , I'd rather just directly buy something I'm actually interested in even if I'll be paying more for that one game than I would the 3-4 games from PS+. I'm kind of annoyed that the RE7 demo is PS+ only though, I'd really like to play that.

I have both Plus and Gold. My satisfaction with the games offered every month varies (it doesn't help that some of the better ones are games I already own, but whatever). I'm generally happy with both services, and it doesn't really bother me to shell out for a year's subscription for each service every 12 months.

I said I'm happy with games I get cause sometimes I get something I like. Most of the time I try a game once or twice than never touch it again, but once maybe twice a year you get real gem like spelunker. In the end I like trying new games.

I've been pleasantly surprised so far by Humble Monthly.

April's was easily the best: South Park, Nuclear Throne, and The Magic Circle were all games I wanted on Steam and didn't have. Nuclear Throne alone cost the $12 monthly fee.

May had Mad Max, Crawl, Galak-Z, and Oddworld New and Tasty. This had the least value for me of the three as I already had Galak-Z on PS4 and don't have a ton of interest in Mad Max.

June had Rocket League and Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, which alone was was the fee. Everything after that was a bonus.

I did mean to cancel this month as I didn't have any interest in Hurtworld, but kind of forgot to do it. I expect this will be the first month I regret it. At least you can make a slightly more informed decision with the Humble Monthly since you always know the first game included for the month. Plus you can decide each month if it's worth it.

Where's the option for I won't pay for something where I don't know what I'm getting? Especially when there is a high likelihood I already have the games I'd likely be interested in?

I let my Gold membership run out yesterday. Literally nothing new worth playing online right now on my Xbox One and i got bored of Halo 5. Overwatch runs fine on my low-mid spec PC so I'm sticking with that for the time being.

The Crew was a nice bonus though with the most recent Games With Gold.

They're not sending me old eggshells in the mail or something, they're giving access to videogames. Of which I have broad tastes in and such it's a valuable service to me. You've been drinking from the hyperbole fountain haven't you?

I play about 25% of the PS+ games more than once (the cursory, curiosity play).

As someone who genuinely enjoys playing a large variety of games (of varying types, size and quality) these subscriptions work very well for me. Once in a blue moon you get something amazing and it pays for itself.

I have definitely had some good times with games that I wouldn't have tried otherwise. Rocket League was one, and more recently Tropico 5, I would probably have never bought that game but after it was in PS+ I have put like 100 hours into it.

Back when I had PS+, I found that I tended to not play the games I downloaded. And at a certain point the list of games I hadn't played, and didn't want to play, was kind of overwhelming. It's stupid, but I felt kind of relieved to let that subscription run out and lose those. I prefer buying the games I want nowadays.

I have had gold for 12 years according to my profile. I play some of the indies and generally already own the 360 releases.

@devil240z: It sounds insane to say this now, but Rocket League was also that game for me. I had never heard of the previous game, or the developer, and really hadn't played any arcade racing (which I thought it was) in years at that time. I remember downloading that game with a friend of mine and thinking nothing of it only to be truly rocked and blown away. That doesn't happen all the time, but for me that was 1 year of PS+ paid for on the spot.

Two other game's that come to mind that I wouldn't have played, and enjoyed, are Never Alone and Aaru's Awakening, the latter being especially weird and off the beaten path.

Tropico is a good one; never played it, have it downloaded, and looking forward to a lazy Sunday where I can poke around in that game.

I decided not to get the service since I own a pile of games already and own at least 85% of the games they've offered so far. Plus I don't like the fact that the games are chosen at random, though I have to admit they've offered many interesting games so far. I personally prefer to buy regular Humble Bundle bundles (Bundle Stars and Indygala have decent bundles on offer as well) so that I can choose which games I get to play. A few years ago I had a gold subscription on my Xbox360 and I've played most of the games they gave away, even though I already owned some of those games on disc. If you don't own too many games on Steam already and like to play different kind of games, I'd say go for it. Humble Monthly will pay off for you since they have a decent selection of games. Otherwise, just don't bother, you'll be better of buying games you know you'll like.

I'm a relatively new subscriber to PS+ just two years, since the acquisition of my ps4, and I'm not too satisfie.

This month was special, because it was uncommon, I'm not familiarized with NBA but Alex said it was a good gameand that's enough interaction with the sport for me, but gone home is a great game, having played in the PC before.

It would be great if titles like bloodborne, or similar games be free on plus, I leave a question, in the history of psplus, any souls game was free?

I have both because of multiplayer, and the "free" games have gotten worse over time but theres more of them so it's not really worth complaining about.

Humble bundle has also gotten worse since it went with a 3 tier system but I still use it whenever there's a few games that seem like they're worth a dollar.
