"A "default slasher flick" ignores the ideas of allegory, metaphor, and symbolism by definition. Clearly, this doesn't.Of course there's the allegory, metaphors and symbolism present but it's such a distinct change of tone that it doesn't match with the rest of the film. Obviously from a thematic point of view, it works perfectly but there has to have been a better way for that final scene to play out rather than have everyone getting smoked in grizzly ways which, to me, totally invalidates the Eli Roth comment because if he had something to say, he could have done it without showing a solid 5 minutes of Mace freezing to death. To me, it felt as if someone realised that this film may sink without a trace unless they put some action in it and that's what led to Pinbacker's assault.
The film does spin abruptly towards the abstract, but the God vs Science metaphor is threaded deeply into the mythos of that final act. It's a riveting collision of the morality of the first acts and the deterministic philosophy of the opposing meta-forces.
Dude, The Matrix is your favorite film, so I'm expecting you to put a little effort into the analysis of the film. Sunshine was not a wide-release, and therefore, it wasn't a big-budget, macho, action/sci-fi flick (nor was it trying to be). Danny Boyle is not Eli Roth. He has something to say, even if he isn't willing to spell it out for the viewer.
A common criticism of Danny Boyle is that his films' final acts are awkward tangents that spiral away from the crux of the original plot. This is completely, utterly incorrect. The final act in a Boyle film has everything to do with the theme of the movie. "
Top 3 favorite movies of All Time
Im surprised how much people think Transformers is one of the best movies they've seen. Don't get me wrong i love transformers (that's how i learned english! Im french canadian but since im 5 i listened to transformers in english because they were ahead in the storyline. ) but the movie is a "good" movie. Nothing more. It's a Bay movie for christ sake. Means it looks good from start to finish, a bit funny but that's it.
Anyways for me its :
Shawshank Redemption
Memento
and the 3rd would be a tie betweet : Joint-Security Area ( south korean movie ), The Great Escape, Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulin and La vita è bella
Yes, other countries can make movies too! Incredible, i know!
1. The Dark Knight
2. The Shawshank Redemption
3. The Godfather
Call me crazy, but I just loved The Dark Knight.
"Not in orderI'm so pleased somebody else liked Constantine. In fact, i'm so pleased somebody else saw it, pretty much everyone else I know hasn't even heard of it"
- Constantine
- Empire strikes back
- SIn City
"Serenity (kind of a misleading title XD)"Was a bit disappointed in it. It's so cold and harsh compared to Firefly. IIRC they even have this blue filter. Firefly is the best TV series ever btw. God damned Fox. And Arrested Development. And Futurama. God damned Fox.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day
V For Vendetta.
Kung Pow: Enter The Fist (HOW CAN SO MANY PEOPLE HATE THIS MOVIE !?!?!?!?! I can understand how some people don't like stupid-funny movies, but other stupid-funny movies get insanely good ratings)

Oh! I love Kung Pow, it's fucking awesome
"SWAT (Colin Farrell is awesome) "It's not a particularly bad movie but I mean, why would it be in anyone's top three? It's so forgettable I berely remember watching it. Oh well, to each their own and all that.
If you like Colin Farrell you should see In Bruges. You all should see In Bruges. But not Miami Vice.
"EkajArmstro said:I don't really know, I liked almost all the actors in SWAT (such as Samuel L Jackson) and although some people said the plot was lame I really liked the twists in it and the whole premise. I also really like the concept of SWAT teams in general, and as such the Rainbow Six series is actually my favorite series of games."SWAT (Colin Farrell is awesome) "It's not a particularly bad movie but I mean, why would it be in anyone's top three? I really liked The Recruit and Phonebooth (both of which he was in) and absolutely hated Miami Vice lol. I will see if I can see In Bruges some time if you think it's good.
Wow, just three? It really depends on my mood and how recently I've seen 'em, but I would say in no particular order...
Titus Andronicus
Stand by Me
Lord of the Rings (don't make me pick one)
Hard to narrow it down. I've got to throw out some honorable mentions: Ronin, Naked Gun, Desperado, From Dusk Tlil Dawn, Kill Bill, The Goonies, Sandlot, the original Star Wars trilogy, It's a Wonderful Life, Beerfest, The Professional, Big Lebowski, and Brotherhood of the Wolf.
The Big Lebowski, Matrix, V For Vendetta, Super Mario Bros. Movie, LOTR, Fight Club, Falling Down
really can't pick
