You must have missed the Playroom fiasco shortly after the PS4 launch.
Twitch No Longer Cool With Streamers Taking Their Clothes Off
One way this could backfire is that streamers who relied sex to sell will get more into the fetish territory. So expect more feet shots, farts and streamers faking to be swallowed by quicksand.
So, you still can deep throat sausages if you do it safely...
Hmm... I'm sure people will push these rules as far as they can, and there will be some nasty blowback because of it.
@scarycrayons: Yep that was the one. All of her info at the bottom of the stream was about her ass and the chat would go fucking nuts when she would shake her ass.
Hey, I like big butts as much as the next person but it was a bit out of place for a gaming stream.
@kanerobot: There was this one weird speed runner who always had his shirt off and talked with people about exercise. He had a nice set of muscles but its really weird and sort of uncomfortable.
All The Hot Streams You'll Ever Need
Maybe Alexis will be able to come up with a quest/achievement system for Twitch that encourages people to not be as gross to each other as usual.
Was this a thing? I don't use Twitch that much but I don't recall seeing much in the way of exhibitionists.
Using 'sex appeal' to farm donations has been a thing for a while.
Yeah, I do understand trying to weed out people trying to prey on viewers with the mentality of some weird, sad person who probably thinks "durrhhh, if I give her 50 bucks maybe she'll show me her tits" or whatever. Then again, if people are dumb enough to have that thought in the back of their head, I'm not sure I feel that much sympathy for them.
Regardless, these rule changes seem reaaaaal dumb to me. I'm not even getting into the baffling "well, we have to make the rules the same - if girls have to wear shirts, so do guys" thing.
Twitch started weeding out content that was tangentially associated with video games a while ago - even if it was quality content. I guess they have an interest in dealing with some of the more egregious examples of people who utilise video game content sparingly in between fishing for donations (i.e. the sort of people who might play a LoL game or two every few hours and will otherwise have some sort of gimmick to attract donations). It's all well and good that people are stupid enough to donate to these streams, but the upshot is that twitch becomes a cesspool of rubbish content.
The girl/guy thing is probably mainly about avoiding flak for double-standards, although there are plenty of male streamers who use the 'shirt off' thing as a donation gimmick as well.
Twitch is just trying to protect their brand. Simple as that. They don't want a ton of shit on there that's a stone's throw away from a porn camsite. They're allowed to do that.
This, to me, is nowhere near as egregious as the new music policy that they implemented on vods. I understood the principle behind that idea, too, but they went much too far with it in practice. Let's see how stringent they are with this one before going crazy.
I appreciate the language used, but "drinking excessively" is an interesting one. What will Forsen ever do?
Unfortunately I don't think this addresses of female streamers who wear low cut shirts and purposely angle the camera in a way that is provocative, [..]
I guess I don't see why this is a problem. If you don't like it, don't watch it. They're not hurting anyone, no one is forcing them to do it and no one is forcing anyone to watch them. Just because someone does something that goes against your personal moral values that should be banned?

They're technically going against Twitch's moral values at this point. Also, "If you don't like it, don't watch it" is a poor counterargument. The only reason they're bringing it up is because they watched it, so telling them not to is too little, too late.
@anund: Because it's very obvious that the personality or the game is not what the focus of the stream is. Take that shit to livejasmin or something. Twitch is about video games, and when 75% of the screen is a webcam your stream should be taken down.
Oh wow. People need to hit that link, and scroll down. Down, down, down down, down down down down down..
@somejerk: If only every female streamer was actually the main character from Jurassic Park Trespasser.
Was this a thing? I don't use Twitch that much but I don't recall seeing much in the way of exhibitionists.
It was, at least in World of Warcraft. Every time i searched for a stream cause i was bored for a bit at least half was a stream with a cam feed and there not that well dressed girl. Put me off with even searching for it tbh. If i wanted porn i searched for that...
Yeah James has all the hard hitting commentary that is spot on.
The world really has a problem with nudity, its hilarious. But I guess it's not relevant when it comes to streaming video games.

Wait, there's no HUD and the main character's health bar is represented by a heart tattoo on her tit that fills in as she takes damage?
That's... actually kind of awesome.
Finally, a chance to recap that stream from the other day!
A camgirl was setting up her stream on Twitch after Justin.tv shut down. She had a guy playing games in a tiny corner of the screen while she sat on the floor in a low-cut top ("I don't even own a bra, guys!") talking to viewers. She was doing dances and moving through her "house" when suddenly a guy walks on screen and suddenly she's on a first date. The chat started calling him a plumber (come to check her pipes) and it was all really awkward, especially since the first guy was still sitting on her bed playing Resonance. Eventually, she got banned. It was the best stream ever. Also, all of this was happening under the Extra Life banner, so that garnered even more complaints.
@brodehouse: Not only that, the actual character model is a pair of breasts with an attached arm and nothing else.
@scarycrayons: One of my favorite things about Video Games Awesome is that the women are NEVER the ones scantily-clad. It's always the dudes.
@forkboy said:
There goes my plan for doing livestreams of Crusader Kings II while featuring me, a pasty white fat nerd does a striptease. And it was bound to make me millions, damn you Twitch.
You'd be surprised how many people are legitimately into that.
But now where am I going to get my shirtless Caleb Hart fix?! An entire donation incentive has been destroyed for Games Done Quick because of this!
You should see rulesets crafted to cover people's illegal asses. Turns out black market asses are pretty well internally regulated.
The snitches-get-stitches referendum is very clear.
Yes, because James Harding should ever be taken as a valid critique on any matter ever.
I actually think this is written really badly and unprofessionally. These are terms of service, not a chat with your bros. Also twitch seems quite prudish with some of this.
It's written in a way actual human beings speak in. If that's unprofessional then fuck being professional. Legalese is exists to make you zone out & just sign without paying attention unless you are a Lawyer Monster.
Actual human beings don't throw around kappa and grills. That's reserved for twitch stream monsters, and those are more hateful meme-spewing robots than people.
