I decided to start out on Titan difficulty from the beginning for the challenge and the trophy but man is it testing my patience and resolve.  I have never had such repeated difficulty in a game before.  There have been some bosses where I felt like I was going to toss my controller and then you have the game constantly laughing at you and offering Easy Mode.

It isn't too bad now that I have a couple health upgrades but when I had the minimal bar I was dying constantly.  I think I missed a couple eyes early on because I had 2 Magic upgrades and an Item upgrade before I completed my first set of Gorgon Eyes.

Yea when I fought Poseidon in Titan difficulty  it was rough.  Probably took me over an hour to beat him all the way through. After that though I haven't been doing too bad though. I started using "evade" a lot more and that has helped a great deal. I usually don't even worry about trying to block attacks most of the time.

This was actually somethign I was curious about; I haven't gotten the game yet, but I'm a god of war vet. (played through both games on their highest difficulties) and tend to start games on the hardest difficulty. ,o you guys think it's worth starting on Titan, or does it make more sense to start on a lower difficulty level, given how much GOW I've played?

i would just play it on normal just for the reason of being able to play through it and pay more attention to the story parts.  Then I would go for the challenge and up it to titan.  But hey what ever you like, BUT I wouldn't be surprised if you would end up getting more trophy points playing it through normal just for the fact that you wouldn't be passing by the skin of your teeth every time.

The fighting between bosses isn't too bad, I have only been stuck on a handful of spots but when I get stuck I am stuck for a while.

I will post the spots in a spoiler just in case.

Not really that studied on God of War, but I would never start a game, on my first playthrough, with the highest difficulty activated. There exists a particularly masochistic group of gamers that chooses to play through games on their hardest settings from the outset, but a game always seems to lose some of its magic on the highest difficulty. In Call of Duty, for instance, you see the seams in the programming much more easily, and it comes down to using only the most useful, repetitive tactics ad nauseum.

Yeah but man, think of the achievements/trophies!

Naw I mainly do it because I'm stubborn as hell, and I get into a "the designers can't beat me" state-of-mind where I just need to beat it on the hardest difficulty.

@Sir_Ragnarok: I usually like to start on highest available difficulty mainly for the challenge.  I find that most games are too easy on the Normal difficulty and I get bored with the game and beat it much too quickly.  Of course sometimes the harder difficulties are much much harder then Normal and make me rage, but damn does it feel good to finally get passed a particularly difficult fight.

Yeah well the gameplay itself in SP in CoD can't really compare to GoW, a good challenging fight in GoW makes the game even more fun IMO. The combat system in the game is really fantastic, it's super simple to understand but difficult to master. Once you get the hang of it and start doing well it's like gaming porn. CoD SP has waaay to many bullshit parts, like enemy grenade spam and respwning enemys. Artificial difficulty, no real thought was put in it I feel.

I always though Hard in GoW was the sweet spot, the one above it (it unlocks after beating the game) is a little too much. Normal is too easy. Playing the game right now on it and it's been pretty easy, I have walked past most health chests and used the L3+R3 rage only once (on Hades).

The Cerberus that spews the kamikaze dogs and has two satyr spawns after dropping back to Hades on Titan made me rage more than any other part of the game.

This was the toughest part of the game for me and I only played on Titian not Chaos mode, I shudder to think of how hard that would be.

@Gabriel: Couldn't agree more, no other fight gave me near this much hassle, I left the game twice for about a half hour each time to relax and go at it again. If they took away the satyrs, I think it would've been tons easier.

I would have to say it was frustrating, but also satisfying playing this game on Titan mode.  After beating the game you have a sense of accomplishment.  In my honest opinion the hardest part of the game would have to be the 3 Judges II.  Fighting the Hades Cerberus Breeder, the exploding Feral Hounds and Satyrs combined made me want to stop playing.  It was frustrating how the Feral Hounds kept exploding while your throwing them back at the Breeder and then just when you thought you were getting somewhere here comes the damn Satyrs.  It took me over 1.5 hours to get through this part.  Anyone that plays Titan on this stage be WARNED.  I digress, this was an awesome experience though.  Stick with Titan mode.

@jukezypoo: Play on God. The difficulty spikes during the poseidon fight, and at the middle to end. I would play the game through on Easy or God to experience the game and mess around with the awesome weapons.

Mmm well I'm playing through on titan; just got to the 3 Judges and I dread what I shall soon face, given what I have heard about the coming sections.

Been playing on Titan and just got the boots. Was offered easy mode 2-3 times so it hasn't been too bad. Health/magic chests seem spaced out properly for Titan mode. Grab a chest, nearly die on a section, and boom there's another chest. You'd prolly just run by a a few chests on easier modes cuz you wouldn't need em.

Most of my deaths came via the enviroment. Isometric viewpoint and awkward jumping sections do not mix. Throw in the unresponsive double-jump and you have some fairly irritating game design. Though, these are few and far between. Just finished it a few minutes ago; probably one of my favourite gaming experiences.

@fenixREVOLUTION: Oh god, I have nightmares about that part.  Worst part of the game hands down on Titan mode, I don't even want to bother calculating the time I wasted on that section.  The worst part of all is that each attempt it wasn't like I was getting closer, I just kept dying at the same spot over and over, seemingly never getting closer to taking out that Satyr.  I ended up reloading an older save from before the last room of the labyrinth and not using Rage of the Spartans in the last room and saving it for the cerberus fight.  Honestly, without that I don't think I would have ever beat it.

The trick to beat that section with only half or less of your rage of Sparta filled is to keep the first satyr alive when you chop off the second Cerebus head, then kill it. Only one more Satyr will respawn instead of two making the fight a little more manageable.

@Gabriel: I didn't kill any of the Satyrs until the Cerberus was dead. I just kept kicking the dogs at the Cerberus and hitting him with the bow while dodging. Then when the doggie was down, I used the L1+O attack on the Claws of Hades to kill both Satyrs, which took a good few minutes, but I didn't lose one drop of health on them.

that made me rage on NORMAL!
the trick is:  just beat the shit out of the cerberus and ignore everyone else, then hammer circle to kill the satyrs.

i do love kicking flame puppies at the cerberus though.

I'm at that part right now.  Whenever a Satyr spawns I switch to my Claws of Hades and summon the Gorgon soul so she can stone them. After that I hit L1 + Square to smash them. Even though I figured that part out, it doesn't help that the damn Cerberus is birthing those stupid Kamikaze puppies. I swear, whoever came up with the exploding puppies needs to be beat into a three month coma with their left shoe. This and the Bare Hands challenge are just straight up B.S.

I'm playing on Titan currently and it's alright. Nothing too hard yet. You should have played on Normal the first time just for the experience and then replayed on the higher difficulty.

I'm at the first phase of the Zeus fight (where you're fighting on that narrow pathway thing) and I'm getting my ass handed to me. It's always one thing after another. I've never cursed so much and hit my couch so many times. This game is bringing out the worst in me T_T.
Once I'm done with Titan mode and get the trophy, I'm done with that mode. Back to normal for me.

For that phase of the fight I used the cestus when in close.  When he leaps in the air rush under him and either jump and hit him or wait for him to come down.  When he charges his punch parry it and send it back at him, that will stop his combo and that big finisher.  Basically try to learn his patterns and parry a lot.  When I was able to get shots in on him I stuck to triangle attacks to do the most damage in the fewest hits.  When he vanishes and re-appears, again get close to him get a couple shots and be ready to parry his punches.  It took me several tries but once you start to recognize his attack patterns and the way he telegraphs each attack it isn't too bad.
