I'm going to assume the other ones are from Europe
Granted, God of War 1 and 2 had pretty cool looking covers. I guess 2 out of 3 isn't bad.
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Mar 16, 2010
I personally don't have a problem with American box art because boxes don't really matter to me. They just sit on my shelf and I look at the spines most of the time. That being said the simple reason that the covers are different is because some marketing department figures out that in certain areas of the world people respond to certain things.
They're all a bit weak in my opinion. While it doesn't really show you what the game is about, GoW 3's art is the most pleasing in my mind.
But it seems I am alone in that opinion so far.

The European GOW 2 box art is basically the same as the american GOW 1 box art..... so...... how does the American gow 1 box art suck?
Call me crazy if you will, but I think the US versions are better, with the exception of God of War 3. The original God of War box art is totally a classic. The European version of it looks pretty cheesy and predictable. The back shot of Kratos in God of War 2 is immensely cooler, if you ask me.
" @ajamafalous said:I actually brought up that same point when discussing the respective wiki page at one point. Apparently if it's not the whole face, it's half a face." SHOWING HALF A FACE ON BOX ART OH YEAH "If this was half of his face, you could mirror what you have and you'd be looking at his whole face. Can you do that? No? Well alright. Now if I have 3 apples and take one away how many apples do I have? "
" Subjective argument based on personal preference? "I just think its kinda stupid that with the millions of dollars it took to make this game, they couldn't pay someone on Deviant Art 50 bucks to draw something that looked half way decent. Instead they just zoomed in on his face.

The American box art for GOW1 and 2 are much better. However, the non american box art for GOW3 is friggin awesome

And judging by how well a lot of games with 'bad' boxart, including GoW3, still sell in America it's safe to say they're doing they're job. Well...either that or we just don't care enough to let the boxart influence us.
Because us Europeans are weird. :P
I don't really mind about Box art, but i assume that there is obviously lots of North American Box Arts better than the European and Japanese.
I like the GoW3 US box. Usually western box art looks the same - the protagonist holding a weapon. I like it when they do something different.
Red on white is eye-catching, faces are eye-catching, eyes are eye-catching. So, for it's ability to jump out at people from the shelf I think it's pretty good too.
" I'm going to assume the other ones are from Europei dont think anyone used that one on the right for ps3.

When it comes down to it us hardcore gamers are going to buy the games we want regardless of what the box looks like. The box art is there to catch the eye of someone wandering through Wal-Mart or Gamestop who is just browsing a wall of games. Thus we have to think in that context when judging how awful or awesome we think a game's box art is.
" God of War III has double sided box art. you can switch the sides to get the cooler looking box art. "It doesn't and the picture posted isn't the PAL artwork. God of War III has the same artwork worldwide.
" @LiquidPrince said:No problem. I wish it was the one on the right as well since that other God of War III artwork was more badass I think." @AjayRaz said:my bad! that's what i heard "" God of War III has double sided box art. you can switch the sides to get the cooler looking box art. " @AjayRaz said:Then where the hell did that other GOW3 artwork come from? There were articles saying that the the Kratos face GOW3 one would not be the official cover, and was only a place holder..."
