    Overview

A common trend in role-playing games, "Hit Points" is commonly abbreviated as "HP" and sometimes may be referred to as "Health Points". In most games, where a level up system is in place, gaining a new level will increase the max amount of hit points a character has. Also, in RPGs and similar genres, characters prone to melee combat often have a much higher amount of HP than mages, archers and the like.
