Kart Racer last edited by Janardana on 06/13/20 04:07AM View full history

The first kart racer was Power Drift, a 1988 arcade game developed by Sega AM2 and designed by Yu Suzuki. It set the basic template for subsequent kart racing games. The Sonic Drift series is a spiritual successor to Power Drift.

Kart racing was then popularized by the Mario Kart series, which debuted in 1992 with SNES game Super Mario Kart, developed by Nintendo EAD and produced by Shigeru Miyamoto.
