Take-Two Views L.A. Noire As 'Powerful New Franchise'
You keep making them i will keep buying them.
L.A Noire was one of the most refreshing games i have played in years on the console and i absolutely love this game, sure.. it has flaws but what game doesn't? with time they will perfect it (which could easily be done in the first sequel), i hope they stay in the 40s, 50s etc., i would love to see a 40/50s one with a al capone type storyline, one long over-arching storyline with a bunch of side missions. (and i don't mean one long over-arching story with the character i mean one big storyline with side storylines that intertwine)
I would like to see a different locale...40s vegas would be perfect for this kind of game....new york would be good too
I'm of two minds on LA Noire. On one hand, it's incredible. And so is the facial animation technology. On the other, it didn't take long before the gameplay mechanic itself got a little played out. Dont' get me wrong, if they came out with sequel or a different story/environment based on the same concept and tech tomorrow, I'd buy it without question. I just don't think it is nearly as perfect as we're treating it. It really is coasting a lot on the facial animation and the tone of the game, because the hardware it's running on is doing it no favor. On the 360, it looks very dated and has a miserable FPS (often simply being not just low FPS but flat out choppy).
I"d also like to see something that is more than just "(T)ruth, if it's clearly the truth, (D)oubt if there's no evidence, (L)ie if you have evidence to the contrary". It's a nice start, but they could go so much farther.
I'd like to see this revisited in 2015, when we have new hardware (and when half the content hasn't been cut so that they could afford to publish it on MS).
Why doesn't Team Bondi get more credit here? they're not even mentioned, and they developed the whole thing....I was wondering this myself. My theory is that it was developed by a virtually unknown company and published by a well known publisher with a history of similar (free roam) type games... but Rockstar seems to have had more to do with the game's development than the average publisher based on the game credits.
Hell yeah I cant wait for 52rounds of LA Noire DLC , I will be nickel and dimed case by case...So exciting!!!
I'm guessing it's gonna be the "Noire" franchise, not the "L.A." franchise. Next game in New York or Chicago.
I kind of sort of don't want there to be more games in this franchise. It's so unique. I would like to see other games use these mechanics though so whatever, it works.
LA Noire was a fine game. It actually reminds me a lot of the original Mass Effect: a lot of unrealized potential, and some deep flaws. The question is whether or not they'd be able to fix the flaws without gutting the game. Bioware did that with Mass Effect 2, then failed to do so with Dragon Age. I have doubts that Rockstar will be able to do it with LA Noire. That doesn't mean I don't want them to try: I really do. I enjoyed LA Noire quite a bit. So I guess this is good news that the company thinks of it as a success.
Pretty sure I've hit the point where I will buy whatever Rockstar put out. Fanboy status achieved.Exactly, all the Rockstar games I have bought this generation have been pure gold.
(Yes I know L.A Noire is Team Bondi and RDR is Rockstar San Diego) They know what to publish.
Now gimme Bully 2 please!
Not saying it was a bad game by any means, but was kinda disappointed with LA Noir. Characters were all pretty bland, story was sub par/pretty pointless. Its also a shame to have a great looking city go to waste. For any open world game the City/location should be considered a character. Still, interesting first go.
Mainly when Phelps walked off a surface and instead of panicking he kept walking on thin air all non chanatly.Though the games does get really good at the end I agree too the characters are pretty forgettable. And it's not really that they are bland as much as they never reveal much about them.If they made you care more about Phelps like Martson it would of been better.
Rockstar has been so prolific in terms of generating fresh new IP's who are amazing hits right from the start, I honestly am looking forward to the next one. I feel that at this rate they could keep building upon their IP portfolio and then in a few years start working on sequels, and just publish a sequel to one of the existing franchises every year. Another possibility would be to sell of some of their IP's if they feel like they aren't leveraging the IP's enough, cause they probably don't have enough studios to work on all their IP's at once...
My two cents? My guess is that soon enough Team Bondi and Rockstar will be one and the same. From my perspective LA Noire was a test to see if Team Bondi could produce the same level of content that Rockstar puts out--and it looks like they passed. I'm thinking that they want to associate the name Rockstar with LA Noire as much as they can right now so that two years from now when NY Noire comes around we aren't baffled by the replacement of Team Bondi with Rockstar Sydney.@Nadafinga said:

I actually liked that you were the good side of the law this time ("bending" the rules however you can feels all the more satisfying.). While I doubt it I would really like to see Miami in the 80's once more. lol I'm just a fan of Miami Vice. I actually had Phil Collins playing in the background a bit when playing LA Noire the other day.
