This deliberately ridiculous third-person action game stars Juliet Starling, a zombie-slaying cheerleader who's almost as handy with a chainsaw as she is with a pair of pom-poms.
The Next Game From Suda 51 and Akira Yamaoka is...

It's a shame that it's going to be terrible, like every Suda game. I like his creative mind. I hope he learns how to make a game that doesn't completely suck.Shadows of the Damned didn't "completely suck". Best game I've played in a while imo. And my first Suda 51 game, I'm optimistic personally.
He wasn't the director of that game though, Massimo Guarini was who recently left Grasshopper to form a new studio.
"I say! Ironic low-brow humor is fine, but sexuality? In MY video games? Why, sir, I never! How dare you belittle these defenseless video game females, Mr. 'Suda 51?' I'll have you know that I have no intention of purchasing your product due in large part to the egregious crimes you have committed against the art of video games, and my contributions to our common organization will end forthwith. You and your cadre of troublemaking Orientals have forgone the accepted hyper-male norms and have sought to bring your twisted Yellow perceptions of the female form to bear, and I will not stand for it! This is America, sir!"No. This is stupid. Dick-jokes? Fine. That's not so bad. I'm not into it but it doesn't bother me. But low camera angles and panties? Not fine. That crosses a line for me. I say Japan can keep their creepy sexism. I want none of it in my games and I will stay far away from this one.
After renting, and fucking loving SOTD, I feel so bad that I didn't pay full price for the game. It's genius.
I'd roll my eyes, but the promise of more dulcet tones from Akira Yamaoka and another glimpse into the mind of Suda 51 turned this into an already must have.
is this for pubescent tweens? i'm just not meta enough to have 2 things like aliens/zombies, cheerleaders/chainsaws, ninjas/hobos thrown at me and react like i HAVE to play it. whatever. All you have to know is that it is from the mind of Suda 51, who is to video games what Robert Rodregez is to movies. They make super awesome campy 'b-versions' of their crazy mediums.
That sounds...really boring, actually.
If it was, like, a zombie cheerleader that was all desiccated and shit, and you were terrorizing normal humans, that would be pretty fresh.
I'm getting a big Onechanbara vibe from this, which disappoints me a bit because I expect more originality from Suda 51. On sales performance it seems like Suda's games tend to do better here. For example, No More Heroes sold 290,635 copies in North America and 38,943 in Japan. Shadows of the Damned hasn't even been released in Japan yet.
Suda will have my money for this...classic perv-Suda at work, with an insane weapon to boot? Sign me right the fuck up! :D
