A Great Game Shot Down Too Quick
Lost Planet 2 is truly much better than recent reviews pin it. There, I said it. It seems as though most people haven't given this game a chance and just go by what a large media syndicate says the game is worth. And this my friends is rubbish. Â
Â
GRAPHICS: The graphics in Lost Planet 2 are stellar. Whether your in an icy tundra, a tropical rainforest, or an arid desert; your surroundings look true to life. Being in the rainforest of E.D.N. III made me feel like I was in the jungle of Peter Jackson's "King Kong." Bug and animal life seems everywhere, and your a small group of invaders in hostile, unknown territory.Â
Â
AUDIO: The sound in this game is very good. Machine guns sounds realistic, shotguns have a chest-thumping boom, and everything else is exactly as it should be. My only complaint in this category is the shoddy voice acting. Most characters sound the same, and the actors seem to have nearly no personality when they speak. It sometimes feels like going to see a high school play being spoken out.Â
Â
STORY: It seems as though this game is trying to get an environmental message across. The constant battle for resources on E.D.N. III have been draining the planet's waining Thermal Energy stores and bringing out the worst that "Mother E.D.N." has to offer. I applaude this game for conveying a message that what we have could change for the worse, and the cause will be our greedy hunt for resources.Â
Â
CLOSING STATEMENT: Game and media sites have given this game an unfair beating. Although I personally feel the game could've been better, it's not nearly as bad as most sites make it sound. I may not recommend this game as a definite buy for anyone reading this, but at the very least, rent this game. Once you finish with story the online will keep you entertained for a while after. Though not a game that can compete with recent video game powerhouses, it definitely shines through none the less.
