    Mad Max Review

I played Mad Max like a Mad Man after I picked it up on sale. I'm torn on this game, on one hand the Batman style combat is tried and true,(I have to add that after replaying Batman Arkham Asylum, the combat is a lot more responsive and fluid than batman) and the car combat is pleasant enough, on the other hand this is the majority of things to do in this game. The story what little of it there is left me wanting . There are certain choke points in the story where you are bottle necked into doing the highly repetitive "side missions" to reduce the threat level in each goofy dumb-asses territory you need to proceed through to the end of the story.

The main content consists of shooting snipers off perches, with a very poor shooting mechanic only available from the back of your car. Blowing enemy convoys up with your car, which is the one of the better realized components of the game but becomes trivial after some of the late game upgrades for your car thus removing replay-ability. Pulling down towers with your cars harpoon, also trivial but required to progress, but I had some of my most enjoyable time in the game just driving around the games world. The vehicle handing is fun once accustomed to it.The game has very few fast travel points compared to most open world games. But it can be exciting driving your death machine around the wastes.

The most time consuming part of the game is going into enemy camps where section by section you use the before mentioned batman style combat to achieve a small set of simple and repeated goals. Although it is similar to other games combat it has its own unique touches that brought glee at times. The tools at hand in combat are gruesome and useful allowing the above mentioned fluidity to combat, making combat the most pleasant part of the game and consequentially the game play is what helped me push through to the end of the story. Although upgrading Max's abilities brings more tedium to the game, you are forced to drive to a roaming shaman-esque character in order to spend a skill point.Halfway through I found myself dreading the proceeding the bored cut scene pushed every time you visit this "shaman". So I took the route of letting five to ten points build up before i took the time to search out the shamans newly relocated position on the map. Which seems odd because my garage i.e the way to upgrade the car is simply in the game menu?....

I found the game to be getting too tedious around the hour twenty mark, so hey I got twenty hours of funish game play out of it before i could take no more and just mainlined the story as fast as i was allowed. I decide to lean positive due to the fun I did have but fair warning, the game is VERY repetitive and i was disappointed when it was all said and done that the game gave me to compelling reason to play after completing the story.
