It's going to be an orgy simulator. You and up to seven friends can select your own ME race of preference (complete with customisation options, including multiple Asari skin tones) and then fuck each other online using Kinect.

I don't get why people get so upset about multiplayer. I know changes are pretty hard to take for some folks, but no need to go all rainman about it.
 
Also it was pretty obvious they would do that. One of the biggest EA titles gets MP, oh, you have to use Origin for that. What a coincidence.

From what I understand this is basically the same as the Uncharted 2 co-op missions.  That game still turned out pretty good in spite of its multiplayer.  I didn't bother with it in Uncharted and I'll pass on it in Mass Effect 3, but I don't begrudge other people from participating in multiplayer scenarios .  I'll stick to the single-player since that's where the story is.

Fuck you Bioware. I have no problem putting multiplayer in a Mass Effect spin off but leave the core trilogy alone.

As long as the multiplayer does not impact the quality of the single player in any way I could really care less. I hope it's good.

Same here. I'm very much confident the MP mode won't affect the quality of the singleplayer campaign. I also think it would be neat to roll together with a few buddies in a few custom made co-op scenarios that's not directly related to the main campaign.

Mostly hoping they will play around with the systems they have with the party system from TOR. If it's just shooting, then I won't care enough to play it, but if it's a full ME experience in a separate MP package: I could probably get my GF into it.

Actually I enjoyed bioshock 2 multiplayer and you would probably have a point if mgs4 and gta4 both suffered because of it.

If it's some sort of co-op mission type stuff then it could be alright I suppose. I am 100% against the idea of competitive multiplayer in this game though.

My main concern is my ability to S-rank it if there are multiplayer cheevos. 
 
I remain cautiously optimistic.

People were iffy about Uncharted 2 getting multiplayer for frack's sake. If Naughty Dog can put it off, I'm sure Bioware can.

Pretty much. But the very thought is enough for people to go nuts.

@PhatSeeJay: Co-OP is going to be great! Can't wait to see what it is. Maybe it is something like the normady's B-Team goes down and does stuff while shepard is on his own, that would be great.

Co-op is not multiplayer is not the same thing in my mind. Co-op in Mass Effect is whatever as long as it doesn't take away from the singleplayer. Multiplayer on the other hand is complete ass and pvp with ME would be the worst thing ever.

Guys just chill, it might be co-op or a weird horde mode like in that mission in ME2....

I started writing up a competitive multiplayer design doc. I might post it on the BioWare forums and see what the response is. It involves selecting races and classes, levelling up, unlocking and improving active powers and passive perks, and should host a great balance between the rock-paper-scissors nature of shields-armor-barrier and the various specialties of each class.

*sighs* Please don't tell me this game was delayed to put in some half assed multi player stuff.

Wouldn't care about multiplayer either way. Just please don't put multiplayer achievements in the game.

Some co-op business could be kind of cool. I'd rather they just concentrated on making the ME3 storyline wrap up satisfyingly, though. I don't play Mass Effect for any of the reasons that I play multiplayer games. I hope they just brought on some more teams and the same ME people are still chugging away at the single player uninterrupted.

As someone who has friends who also like Mass Effect, this is potentially exciting. I'll wait and see before I form an opinion, since there is barely any information to go on.

If it's just co-op, and if its inclusion didn't take too much time away from development on the campaign, then I guess it's not too bad. 
 
But if there are Achievements tied to it (and there will be), then I'm going to be pissed if I can't S-Rank this one like I did the first two because I don't pay for Xbox Live Gold. Argh!

Co-=op could be cool, but the actual combat mechanics in Mass effect games are not solid enough to support a competitive game (unless they get a MASSIVE overhaul in 3)

Multiplayer Kinnect only please

I don't know if you people know this, but FPS means FIRST. PERSON. SHOOTER. Not third person. Just so we're on the same page, at no point is Mass Effect in first person.

Kind of makes sense seeing how ME has evolved into a third person shooter

This just in: Mass Effect 3 will be a short, third person shooter with slight RPG elements and plans on extending it's replay value with Multiplayer.

My thoughts exactly.

Campaign co-op would be incredible.  Even if it only went as far as you jumping in to control Garrus or Tali, taking your xp rewards back to your game.  Or having tons of unlockable features and gameplay twists like RE5.

Multiplayer would be so much fun! And although it's probably not likely, it'd be awesome to be able to play as different races. I just want to play an Elcor and speak in Elcor talk as I kill and be killed.
