Depending on how much this cost, it might be worth it for Baseball Stars. Who am I kidding, its worth it no matter what.
Neo Geo
Platform »
The Neo Geo was a console released by SNK in 1990, featuring a 16/32-bit 68000 CPU with an additional 8-bit Z80 CPU and custom 24-bit GPU chipset. An arcade-based console considerably powerful for a home system at the time, the Neo Geo was notoriously expensive (costing $650 at launch) and aggressively marketed as an Advanced Entertainment System (AES).
Hey, Remember That Weird Handheld Neo-Geo Thing? It Actually Exists
Always wanted a Ne Geo, but that $700 for the console and $200 per game was redunk! Hope this is affordable!
Seems like a pretty low risk, and kinda fun move for SNK. If it comes in around $100 or less, I might get one.

Blaze confirms £500 price tag for NeoGeo X
Apparently Eurogamer was kicking up a stink about it not being real, but Blaze stand by the figure.

Wait what, £500?
More than a 360 and a PS3 combined?
I said this at the time the first announcement was made. No Neo Turf, No Sale!.
Top Players Golf is good but Neo Turf Masters is the better golf game.
Hopefully it'll have a TV-out option. I also hope the homebrew guys jump on this; it would make a great emulation box for all sorts of old games. The 500-quid pricetag is a little scary, though; hopefull it isn't true.
Not trying to be a naysayer but... What are the chance this that this thing will actually be properly supported?

Get Match of the Millennium on there and I'm sold.
Yes! This and the card fighter game as well!
Hey, @Alex :What little interest I had in this weird thing has just evaporated. Good lord.

@BitterAlmond: From the press release:
Along with these 20 built in NEOGEO classic titles, the NEOGEO X will also feature, SD card expansion, a 3.5" LCD screen, A/V output, internal stereo speakers and a headphone socket.

I never had a NEO GEO. Can anyone tell me which of those games are good besides the fighting games?
Neo Turf Masters, which isn't on the list...
There will also be an SD card slot on the device, presumably for the sake of adding additional games down the road, or maybe just so you can load photos onto it or something.
The Mega Drive one Blaze released previously also had a SD card slot which was basically for Roms. The manual described it as being for 'Internet Games Download Feature'.

This is cool. I may be up for it if the price is right.
It's £500. That's a little less than $800 at current exchange rates. I seriously doubt it'll be that expensive when (or if) it sees retail release in the US, but I'd be surprised if it was anywhere near what the Vita and 3DS cost. Probably much more. Like $350 at least.
Navarro snark is still some tasty snark...I can only hope that vidyagames can satiate the snark engine...
The only way I'd pay that price is if there was a code to unlock every NeoGeo game in existence
and then said device morphs into its own AES cartridge to play any game you choose

If you can homebrew the shit out of it, I'd be all for it. How many people are actually going to pick this one up? I'd buy one just to satisfy any hipster cravings I'd ever have over the next few years.
I'm contemplating picking one up, especially for the same reasons you've already stated. Whether or not I get one probably depends on my financial situation at the time of its release, but as a fan of the Neo-Geo in general, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one of these things.
