Nintendo was founded in Kyoto, Japan in 1889 as a manufacturer of hanafuda playing cards. The company went through several small niche businesses before becoming a video game company.
E3 2011 - Nintendo Press Conference Discussion
This was... pretty bad so far. Unless the Wii U (ugh! Worse than the PS Vita) can pull off some impressive, next-level type things, then this is an almost total wash.
At least I'll be getting Kid Icarus and the Luigi's Mansion sequel.
So they spent this entire time just showing off the controller to a new system that they refuse to show, ensuring that everyone is totally confused and still doesn't know what the hell Nintendo is doing even after a press conference trying to explain it.
Way to go, Nintendo.
They said like 50x that it's a new console.is there a console or is it a controller
I'm so confused, why didn't they show the console itself if that was just the controller? (ALSO HOT DAMN. That's a big fucking controller)

What does everyone think of the controller? Honestly, I think it's really ugly.
It doesn't look too bad, the console on the other hand...
@Redbullet685 said:Why the FUCK wouldn't they show a picture of the console at the press conference? It's such a bizarre and dumb move.IGN's front page shows a picture of the controller and the CONSOLE.Ok, so that clears that up. I wanna know why they couldn't have just said that themselves...
What the fuck people? Why is there a dozen pages of people going "What?"
New console.
Controller with a screen.
Information on the screen (Like inventory) and connectivity between the screens.
What was so hard to understand?
I have mixed feelings about the WIIU
I mean they mentioned it as a 'second window' and thats true, i can see some form of potential here, but it seems like a gimmick..although it does appeal to both hardcore and casual gamers.
The third party support is quite a good thing, but graphics wise it seems exactly like a 360 or a PS3, so whats the selling point here? the controller? ugh
All in all, i have no idea how this is going to pan out, i look forward to it.
It's a 360 with a tablet for a controller. This will have some applications for gaming, but will generally be problematic because it is difficult to quickly switch between the TV and the screen in your hands. It could also lead to a lot of cross-ports between the 3DS and the WiiU, such as the announced Smash Bros.
Also, WiiU is a horrible name when said by an English speaking person.

So they made a successor to the Wii, that can do everything it could do, it on par (or possibly higher, fuck it I know) with the 360 and PS3, and has an insane controller with a billion different functions on it.
Alright.
I am intrigued, Nintendo.
