@arbitrarywater: Oh, I dropped Darling in the Franxx after the first episode. Not that it was terrible, just didn't seem like it was going to deliver the best of what Trigger can do. If it's just teenage horny drama I'm not sure if that's enough for me to pick it up again though.

How do you guys feel about this becoming my first experience with Fate/

Loading Video...

Haven't watched it yet, but I'm really tempted to. Would it be a mistake? Am I going to ruin my image of the characters and won't be able to watch an untainted version of the "real" shows? That whole series is pretty intimidating to get into to begin with.

Jeff's guess during the latest bombcast seems to have been correct. It was made specifically with streamers in mind. Not your everyday consumer.

Could you imagine any of the Bomb crew doing anything remotely like this now?

Just a way to relieve yourself of the feeling that you're very unlikely to ever get your perfect game. Spill it and set yourself free.

For me:

  • Exploration and wonder of Breath of the Wild
  • Charm and care put into the story, characters and "set-dressing" of Okami
  • Shadow of the Colossus type bosses roaming around the world, possibly causing havoc to the inhabitants and make good use of the exploration mechanics (since they're even huger now)
  • The last three's aesthetics combined as filtered through the eyes of Shigenori Soejima (Persona art director)

By foreign I mean produced outside of America. Don't know if I should exclude Britain as well.

I haven't watched very many foreign films in the last few years outside of some Kurosawa and a few anime movies. I've already got some on my to-watch list, like The Handmaid (Korea) and After the Storm (Japan).

What else belongs on the list?

A side request: Any good websites where I can track which movies I've watched so that I don't end up in the same situation as now where I'm struggling to remember how many foreign movies I've even watched? (Pan's Labyrinth and Oldboy being a couple of the favourites).

I'd just like to add how unimaginative the battles with Jedi and Sith are. Anyone can wave a lightsaber around, so why is that the main focus of their fights? There is so much potential in the way that telekinesis ("the force") can be used. Especially when the main two are touted to have such "raw strength". It was used cleverly once or twice in this movie, but in questionable circumstances (Snoke closing his eyes before being run through and Luke creating a force illusion only to die). There are also times when it should be used to blow through weaklings rather than waste time. If Kylo can blow a building away then why fight one on one with grunts?

It's a bad movie. It's worse than RedLetterMedia's joke theories. Kind of stunning.

I wasn't really a fan of Force Awakens, but the new characters are so unbelievably weak compared to what we got last time around. Laura Dern's Holdo is a full on joke. Last time I felt we got a half-baked lighter-end Disney plot. This time they just made a mess of it.

Very difficult to understand how this came from the director and writer of Looper. Maybe he'll do a better job with a trilogy based on Casino Planet stable boy with natural force powers (also white).

The sad part from the perspective of a member of this site is Giant Bomb nearly never speaks about this stuff.

The Beast Cast sometimes touches on it.

Both, and I recognize this topic for the subtle shit-starting that it is!

Well, at least it's subtle.

(I've turned Beastcast only recently. Bombcast makes me sleepy.)
