As an unabashed fanboy of the King's Field games, I loved how @jeff said at 53:59 that "Finally they've reclaimed the King's Field roots by putting more 'field' into it." Put that on the back of the box! :-D
@humanity: Actually, in all seriousness, even though everyone hates escort missions in video games (including me), I thought Ashley was one of the least offensive escorts/followers that has ever been. She always sticks very close to you, and for the most part doesn't act like a moron.
w00t! Finally it's official! I had noticed that Jess's tweets started showing up in the "Staff Tweets" section on the homepage yesterday (or was it Monday?), and I was like, "Man, I hope this means there's an announcement coming soon, get it over with already!" Jess/VB seemed like a great fit for GB from day 1. Extremely stoked, looking forward to whatever's next!
I was sort of wondering if they had announced Jess as full-time crew and I just missed it, what with her appearing on these Quick Looks. But I guess they haven't? In which case... do it already! She seems like a great fit. And we need some womenfolk up in here anyway.
TBH I haven't enjoyed a lot of the new shows, but this was great. Maybe because it's fun to watch people have epiphanies (i.e., "Phoenix Down moments"), and Dan is missing so much general knowledge that you get to see him have them all the time. This show is basically a vicarious epiphany generating machine.
The real paradox of Dan is that he seems so intensely curious at times about how stuff works, and yet the fact that there's all this basic stuff he doesn't understand--like what pirates are--means that most of the time he must just be the most unobservant/oblivious/un-curious person in the history of the world. I mean, we all turn off our brains and go on autopilot for large portions of our day, we're not always thinking intensely about how stuff works 24/7, or even most of the time. But when Dan turns his brain off, man, it is really off... just amazing the things he fails to notice and the connections he fails to make. He is definitely on the far side a bell curve in that respect.
