Having played the original back on the Xbox this literally looks like the exact same game. No really. The EXACT same game. Like way more same than Dynasty Warriors. Same mini games. Same menus. Same casino games. Same gift giving system and partner system.
Is it really just prettier graphics and a few different girls?
I wonder why Jeff gives a much more reasonable opinion as to why TP is not great when compared to other games like Yoshi's Island. The obvious answer is that he just doesn't hate this game as much as something like Yoshi, but I obviously have no proof of that. When his criticisms of older games tend to be overblown "THIS GAME IS SHIT" kind of stuff, hearing him talk about Zelda in this level way sounds odd.
Well Yoshi's Island boils down to two points for him. 1.) He doesn't like Yoshi and baby Mario as characters and 2.) He hates the egg throwing mechanic which is about 50% of the game. If you don't like that CORE gameplay mechanic then you don't like Yoshi's Island. Simple as that. lol
He's said that before. But sometimes fans of the game can't accept that Jeff hates it so much and they keep bringing it up and now he's like you "you know what...FUCK YOU MOTHER FUCKERS, THAT GAME IS FUCKING SHIT" just to piss them off. Which is usually hilarious lol.
Redoing the shooting in Re4 would break that game. Every action, yours and the enemies, feels so well tuned around a specific range of motion and animation timing. Managing crowds is a huge part of why that game is fun, having to make split second decisions about when to back up, when to try and fit a reload in, when to try for melee attacks to make some more space.. I can understand why people don't like it, but for for its own purposes Re4 controls extremely well.
Slapping in even Dead Space style controls would fundamentally change how that game plays. I'm not convinced that Capcom would put enough work into it to make it any better than the original, and in that case what would be the point?

Resident Evil 4 was designed with these specific controls in mind. Wanting strafing and shit is completely missing the point of how the levels were crafted and how the devs have placed enemies. I played it again recently and it felt fine, although it required some getting used to. However I quickly got the hang of it. Holy crap sometimes Jeff needs some perspective.
Holy crap, it's just his opinion. And obviously if they remade it the way Jeff said they'd completely rework the levels and everything to accommodate it for the new controls. He isn't saying take the exact game that RE4 is already and just slap new modern controls in it. The game would be completely different.
In my opinion, yes, RE4 is an amazingly well controlled game. I've put so many hours into that damn game it's ridiculous. But, every time it always comes up I completely understands Jeff's problems with it and the controls. Not everyone has to think RE4 is a masterpiece and I can live in a world where that is acceptable even though I myself think that it is.
I always felt like the amount of times Chloe dies throughout the game was time/mother nature's way if telling Max, HEY CHLOE IS SUPPOSED TO DIE!!! Just the amount of times she dies and in all the different ways was foreshadowing the inevitable. Like Final Destination. Yea. You saved her life, but mother nature is going to kill her anyways in as many different ways as possible until Max just gives up.
The only way to fix the timeliness was to go back and let Chloe die like she would have if Max hadn't have been there and discovered her powers.
Chloe was supposed to die and it was her being alive that altered reality. Chloe figured that out and knew it was the only way.
Boy, the dialog is terrible in this game. I think the broader narrative is pretty good, but MAN.
Eh, I think the dialog is perfect. Teenagers are fucking terrible assholes who are walking memes and YouTube personality wannabes. Trust me, I have two nieces and a nephew around this age lol.
It's only terrible in a sense that's it's realistic in my opinion. It is what it had to be.

Their parodies of these are fucking spot on and as someone who's spent many nights clicking random ass videos in YouTubes "recommended" videos until 3am I thoroughly enjoy these videos. The shitty cameras and camera work. The shitty intros. The please like, comment by subscribe. It's all perfect.
To each their own. They're not going to be winners every year for every single person. I just find these terrible in the best way possible.
Ok, so. I would have cut this off if I hadn't already downloaded in preparation for my 5 hour drive to and from the family for Christmas. I stuck with it, because all the guys are super entertaining, but I will throw my vote in the "please don't let this be a regular replacement for the normal Beastcast" group. On one hand, I appreciate them trying something different, but, ...ah hell, I dunno. I'm one of the weirdos who loves hearing about VR, so take all this nonsense I'm typing with a grain of salt.

That's fine it not being your thing. But, I don't get how there is a "please don't let this be a regular replacement for the normal beastcast" group. Do you and others actually believe for a second that this would replace the "normal" beastcast? It was pretty obvious this was just a holiday special because they have time off, but still want to put something out for their normal friday slot.
Have fun with it. The "normal" beastcast will be back in January.
