@claybrez: I dunno. I like the convenience and form of a console and, to be honest, would your budget really change for the better if you commit to upgrading a PC?

No, it wouldn't make things cheaper. But if I'm gonna pay 400 dollars for a new console every three years, I don't see why I don't divert that money + a little more to the highest end graphics I can get in the form of a PC. Bah, I don't know. I just really don't like the idea of upgrading to a new console so soon, especially if there's a better setup on the PC out there.

Tbh the very notion of higher end versions of each console just makes me wish I built a gaming PC so I wasn't beholden to these companies anymore. That said, hearing that the PS4 pro has more to do with 4k than processing power has made assuredly less interested in EVER buying one. The Scorpio definitely sounds more interesting, but all of this has confirmed what the GB crew has repeatedly said about consoles. They're really struggling to stay relevant.

Honestly not especially hyped for either one. I'm not sure what I want out of an open world game anymore, but Mafia III at least looks promising with the unique premise/setting.

Didn't see the press event but even if the new ps4 was markedly more powerful than my standard PS4, I kinda don't want to buy a console again. Like, I didn't opt for the ps4 because I had options, I'm cash-strapped. For the combined price of a standard ps4 and a pro down the road, I could've got a great gaming PC. Honestly, I'm still pretty certain I'm done with consoles for a little awhile after all this.

Yep, it's the end. Ragnarok has come. Waluigi has seen his shadow. Pack it up.

Also, couple of things I took away from the show: Danny is not moving. He is not going to another site. It has to be PR.

Kinda sad to hear that actually, he's one of my favorite on-camera internet personalities, so him possibly handling a bunch of stuffy corporate messaging is disappointing.

I never really dug the missions where 47 was taking on a bunch of yokels (the entire second half of absolution was a weird foray into Americana which was a little to eager to present you with tiresome hick after tiresome hick). I prefer taking on bond villains and eurotrash as 47, I dunno, just a personal preference.

That said, the militia angle is a lot more interesting (sounds like this group is like some kind of international foxhound, which is way cooler imo) and the level itself looks like it has the potential to be a much better sandbox than Bangkok. I think four targets implies a big map and that's pretty exciting, but let's hope it's less disjointed than Marrakesh. I wasn't a fan of how that map was basically 2 average maps stitched together without much interplay between them.

Consider me excited. I'm ready for something drastically different after Bangkok (it was cool but it felt a bit samey, especially with the reused Paris music).

@slag: Yeah I'm with you. I think it speaks to how the GB crew gets to games. They really take their time to get through the Souls games. Also, hard to get anything to get on GOTY I have noticed if Jeff hates it.

To be fair, I don't think any of the GB guys are especially enamored with the games. I think after Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1, Brad and Vinny have both gradually fallen off the series. Probably too speculative to say, but I think Jason is maybe the only guy on staff who plays the game more like a typical fan, making multiple builds and replaying certain sections for gameplay value. I always got the impression the discovery aspect was what really drew Brad and Vinny to the games, and as the series has become more of a known quantity it hasn't really been the same.

Say what you will about Dan, but no matter where he goes he forces an interesting dynamic between himself and a non-Dan person. He keeps it kayfabe.

Really though, I loved him on the east coast content, so I'm pretty happy about this. Can we stop with the insane re-shuffling of videogame folks now? Between this, Mark MacDonald quitting 8-4, and Danny leaving Gamespot, my little heart can't take any more change.

Thank you for sharing this! I'm so down for a nostalgic trip back into the world of Gex this relaxing labor day weekend.

I feel like I've been seeing a lot of Gex references around here, so the question is now: can the people's hunger for more Gex content ever be sated? Are we living in the year of Gex?
