This game confirms to me that Dan Savage's support of "monogamish" relationships is the way of the future.

The entire time I wished I could make Vincent dump both psycho women.

Though you do get this if you get the Chaos ending. Vincent and Catherine both get to fool around and yet are committed to each other and love each other.

Tim Schaefer has never been one to shy away from controversy.

Cliff Bleszinski has never been one to shy away from controversy.

Itagaki has never been one to shy away from controversy.

This is a gaming cliche that needs to die as badly as "compelling gameplay".

Not too much to be surprised about here. It's the same old story of the rich making sure they keep their fortunes and ordinary people getting shafted.

But will it play games?

In that case I will stick with my 3DS.

I've missed out on a lot of JRPGs for not owning a PSP. If I buy a Vita, I'll have access to all past PSN released games plus whatever is scheduled for the future. PSP had a great JRPG library and I don't see why that won't continue with Vita.

In Japan, the PSP was a success. So we can count on some strong 3rd party support from the East.

I love my DS. However, the only 3DS game that interests me in the slightest is the Ocarina port. And the fact that DS games apparently look shitty on the 3DS PLUS the fact that the battery life is shorter is driving me to Sony for my handheld needs.

Sony better not blow this chance and pump out some fun non-shooter Vita games. The new Jonathan Mak game seems like a good start.

And for all the complaining about AT&T, just how successful has the Verizon Iphone been?? I can't vouch for the truth of what I've heard, but I've read plenty of news articles blaming the iphones crappy phone service to the iphone itself and not AT&T.

Thanks for all the advice so far.   Giant Bomb attracts a good crowd.

I'm thinking about sending it in for repair.   I should probably change my PS3 account password before doing so since my credit card info is on my PS3.

I think that will take care of my two objectives.  1)  Get my DA2 disc out of my system  2) Get my PS3 working long enough to upload my saves to Playstation Plus.

Anyone know of any services that are worth my time/money?  There's a place here in Fresno, CA called fresnopc.net  It's the only place I've found in Fresno for PS3 repair.  However, I looked up some reviews on them online and one said that they're pretty shady with reports of them being a sham.

A friend of mine in San Jose recommended a local guy bayareacomputerman.com.  He gave him a pretty glowing review.   I'd have to take a day trip down there or ship it.

Who can I trust to get my PS3 working long enough to do this?

I've played multiple run-throughs of Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect 2.  I've sunk too much time into my system to give up on getting my data back.

I got the blinking red light in the middle of playing Dragon Age 2.  Everything froze up and if I turn the console on, I just get a blinking red light.  I can't get the game to eject at all.

I bought a new PS3 Slim and I now have Playstation Plus to cover myself in case my PS3 craps out on me again.

If I send my machine to Sony is it possible they can save my data and upload it to my Playstation Plus account?  Or will they not even consider this?  Is there anything I can do to ensure my DA:O and ME2 data isn't lost forever?

@kalmis: So true, I don't understand why Jeremy Parish hated that podcast so much.

1up is frustrating.  They kill their best material.

@1up was very much in the same style as the Bombcast.  It was enjoyable to listen to them talk about random pop junk.   Retronauts was fascinating.  I felt the discussion was much more clever there than on their games podcasts.

The only saving grace with 1up is Active Time Babble and Jeremy Parish.  Everything else is abominable.  I can't tolerate listening to Thierry Nguyen speak for more than five minutes.  It seems like many people share my dislike, and yet 1up puts him on EVERY SINGLE DAMN PODCAST.  Their main podcast generally consists of constant passive aggression and boredom.

Sure, every website is designed to generate hits.  But that misses the point.  It's all about the ease of navigation.  1up's  page design is even worse than IGN.  It's just a huge clusterfuck and my eyeballs get confused.  When I go to Giant Bomb, I know exactly where to find the latest videos/reviews/etc with a minimum of hassle.   It seems like so many well designed websites go to shit at some point.  I used to love Metacritic, but it turned into a giant unnavigable eyesore.

The linearity of FF13 didn't bother me that much.  All JRPGs are pretty linear.

I was mostly bothered by the emptiness and inanity of the story/dialog.

I am not surprised in the least that SquareEnix decided to make a gaiden to FF13.  It's a good idea for short term profit.  They can slap together a game pretty quickly and address some complaints of the original.

However, in the long run, this will probably ruin FF's brand image further.
