It's over for the night!  I only just caught the tail end of it. They said they will resume tomorrow night, with the option of watching live or archived footage.

There's a mysterious card in my computer, and I need to know whether it's critical to the system or not. So I turn to the PC literate to help figure out if I need to keep this. I'm building a custom PC and the number of PCI slots affects motherboard cost.

The card is labelled as a FastTrak TX4200. Doing a little googling comes up with this page:
http://www.promise.com/product/product_detail_eng.asp?segment=RAID%20HBAs&product_id=127

"Cost-effective Enhanced SATA RAID 0/1/10 PCI Adapter
The Promise FastTrak TX4200 4-port SATA RAID PCI adapter offers a low-cost solution for implementing a RAID 0, RAID 1 or RAID 10 storage system with up to four high performance Serial ATA disk drives. Promise Technology is the leading provider of Serial ATA interface solutions, and with the FastTrak TX4200, users can benefit from Promise's experience in maximizing Serial ATA storage system performance."

I only have one hard drive that I use (http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Barracuda-Refurbished-ST3400832AS-7200RPM/dp/B000P4XEC2) so I don't know why this is in there.  Could anyone help me understand if I need to move this to my new PC, or if I can save cost by getting one less PCI slot? Thanks!

@darkgoth678: It's not the 7900 GS that needs the pins, it's the GTX 260 I'm getting to replace that. I wasn't quite clear on that. Thanks for the input.

So after spending many many hours doing research, I've finally narrowed it down to purchase time. Basically I'm upgrading my graphics card, as well as getting a new power supply and monitor (everything else is A-OK). If you could take a moment and review/help me out before I purchase, it would be appreciated.

Monitor: looking to get a new one for under $200. Here's what I came up with:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236050

Graphics card: upgrading from Geforce 7900 GS. Checked the dimensions (10.5 inches long!), and it'll fit.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150329

Power Supply: here's where I need the most help. Power supplies have always confused me to no end. And I'm still lost as ever. The specifications (for the above graphics card) are as follows:

Power Requirements:
Non-SLI: 630W Minimum Power Supply
SLI: 680W Minimum Power Supply
One 6-Pin Power Connector
One 8-Pin Power Connector

I have some very specific information to go with, but I have no idea where to start. I was thinking of getting a 700w power supply, but OH GOD I'M SO CONFUSED.

Please recommend me a power supply. PLEASE. I'M SO LOST. My price range is <$100 for the power supply.

Misc. Information:
Win XP 32-Bit
Antec Case
Geforce 7900 GS
4 Gigs RAM

Thanks!

I'm currently looking to build a new system, but have no idea about any graphics cards, system specs or whatnot. Seriously, the last time I knew anything about building a PC the new big thing was the Radeon 9800. Yeahhhhhh.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone could point me to some good sites (or give me some tips) that would help me get back into the PC building scene. The only new knowledge I've learned about building a PC in the past 6 years came from that one Endurance Run, where Jeff was talking about getting a new graphics card. And that's not much. So if anyone could guide me in the direction of where I can get hip to what's new in the world of PC building (dawg), you would be awesome.

Also, in case anyone wonders, here's specifically what I'm wondering about (everything else seems fine):
----------
Graphics Card - Currently have an Nvidia Gefore 7900 GS. Looking to upgrade to something more current but for less than $200
Power Supply- I have no idea, no idea at all.
Memory- I currently have 4 gigs. Is that enough?
------------
But still, what's most important is learning about what good new technology is. I'm looking to expand my knowledge beyond just what my computer needs.

Thanks.

So, while I was browsing through the live streams of random games over at justin.tv

http://www.justin.tv/directory/gaming

(word of advice, avoid the Halo 3 casts unless you want to hear 13 year olds being idiots) when, for the first time, I decided to click on the social tab at the top of the page.

http://www.justin.tv/directory/social

I burst out laughing. Lo and behold, the entire front page is filled with webcams of teenage aged girls sitting in their room, chatting away on the keyboard, doing nothing at all. I watched one for about 10 minutes, and it consisted entirely of a girl saying I'm bored and lipsyncing to random songs.  So, I check back later that day and the same people are there! They spent the entire day in front of a webcam, doing nothing at all.

I check back later in the week, and the same people are still broadcasting. The most amazing part to me is that some of these "broadcasts" have over 500 viewers.

At the time of writing this broadcast had over 850 viewers (though it seems to be down now, it is the most popular show by far when it's on), consistenly through many hours. Here are a couple more:

http://www.justin.tv/crstaldate
http://www.justin.tv/bryanna46

To all of this, there's only one thing I can say: WHAT THE FUCK? Seriously, I don't mean to be all "get off my lawn-like" but wtf is up with this. People used to tell me 'get a life' because I played videogames, even though I did more with my life than they did (boxing, basketball, hell, even math) but it's these kids who need a life. They should be outside, doing things, learning, doing something. And WHY ARE PEOPLE WATCHING THIS CRAP?

Seriously Giant Bomb,
what the hell?

Lashe, the problem is their alienating a large part of their fanbase. The majority of Koreans play over LAN connections, and I've read some responses (on other sites) from LAN party businesses and they are incensed. Supposedly, this was done to reduce the possibilty of reducing illegal remote multiplayer being done over Hamachi and other similar services.
