The original still has a very special place in my heart: an Everyman going against the odds and discovering something human, something much more human than he has ever experienced.

I saw the first trailer with Ryan Gosling. He's cool , I thought.

Then they revealed Harrison Ford. Oh wow, they're really tying this in with the original, I thought.

And then there was Jared Leto. Oh. And the action sequences.

There's good potential there, but... I'm not holding my breath for it.

Just curious: are you using the Chromecast button in Chrome itself, or are you using the Chromecast button in the actual video player?

So, let's break this down...

  • A very short while ago, before the age of all digital releases was a reality upon us, it seemed like video game hobbyists were abreast the dawn of cheaper and easier to access video games. Like it or not, digital distribution has been around for at least ten years. Saying that it was "a very short while ago" is disingenious at best.
  • Quality curation and a controlled number of releases meant Valve could showcase their groundbreaking catalog while taking a cut from others who’d wish to be included on their store. Valve and their Steam platform became the most prosperous trendsetter among online gaming stores. Claiming that Valve does any quality curation or controls the number of releases is at least debatable, seeing how many Unity asset flip games there are on Steam.
  • Who could keep up? Certainly not retail: GameStop and other shops have been slowly dying a brutal and bloody death for year. Thier consumer exploitative pre-orders are absolutely the only reason anyone gives them physical copies to sell anymore. Amazon helped drive the knife into brick-and-mortar stores further, offering huge discounts for pre-orders. As a dedicated and passionate gamer in 2017 my options for buying any given ‘new release’ are frustrating as fuck.Actually, Gamestop has been doing pretty well for itself: to quote their Q2 2017 report "“Our second quarter sales results were driven by continued strong demand for Nintendo Switch and Collectibles. Looking at the second half of 2017, the Nintendo Switch, the launch of Microsoft’s Xbox One X, and a solid slate of AAA titles should drive growth in the video game category." (reference: http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=130125&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=2295544). Most armchair pundits are quick to forget that physical retailers (and yes, especially since you categorize Amazon as a retailer of physical goods, Amazon is an actual physical retailer, just without a fixed shop) are the first point of sale for new customers looking to buy hardware and their first batch of software to go with it. And yes, that gives them the power to negotiate pre-order bonuses. Retailer specific pre-order bonuses, despite what you believe, are not assigned willy-nilly. Gamestop, Amazon, and so on, can actively push for pre-orders or guaranteed sales, and therefor wield considerable power in getting pre-order bonuses.

And that's just the first paragraph...

The good news is that the game becomes playable when you switch to Offline mode. The game stops freezing when players join your area, textures stop popping in, mob spawns become more manageable (if not still cheap as hell).

The bad news is that that is not the solution for an online multiplayer game.

Voting for Vice Vity. Partly because it's probably my favourite Rockstar game, partly to make you suffer that typo.

Is two games with similar similar credits treatments a trend?

Also, I don't think this is what people consider "breaking the fourth wall".

@fang273: my monitor has an audio out but my PC doesn't send audio, so I swap the cable from the PC case audio out to the monitor output.

Wut? Your PC doesn't send audio?

Anyway, I'm going to assume the following:

  • Your main audio setup is your monitor, which takes DVI, mini-jack and HDMI.
  • The audio input is mini (3.5") jack and HDMI.
  • Your main playback devices are your PC (with only a DVI output + audio out) and a PS4 (audio over HDMI).
  • Apparently, there is a problem with having both the 3.5" jack and the HDMI audio on (turning the PC off, or putting it in Standby doesn't stop the 3.5" from hogging the audio?).

You could get:

The switcher I linked has 3 position. When you want PC audio to go to the monitor, switch it to the right, hooked-up position. When you don't want PC audio going to your monitor, switch it to an input that isn't hooked up. That way, the signal over the connected input will not be sent to the monitor.

This should be a fairly cheap (but complicated) way to stop your PC audio from going to the PC, without needing to turn the PC off or putting it in standby mode...
