I'm cheating this year, GOTY is going to be a little late so I can play more games.

I wouldn't be okay with that response, because it makes me question their ability to write well at all. However if they said they had no strong idea for a female character, then I think that would be okay. However that specific excuse is weaker the bigger their cast gets. It works 100% of the time if you're just talking about the main character though.

So I decided to stop watching Naruto until it ended, because I hate watching shows week to week, and this problem was only exacerbated by 6 month stretches of terrible filler. I know the manga is scheduled to end on the 10th of November, but is there any word on the anime? I'm trying to research it, but I'd also like to evade spoilers, and that's been pretty difficult. I know the anime is normally like 6 months to a year behind the manga, but I read something that led me to believe they would be ending it in this December's movie (which seems really unlikely given the amount of time it takes to make an animated film). Anybody have a clue? I just want to know when to start catching up.

Hm.. given all the filler the anime gets I'd say a realistic estimate would be in about 15 years.

Honestly I'm thinking like... two years? The anime is pretty far behind, so I really hope that means they aren't going to do anymore bs filler.

Man I hope it's sooner than that. I'm confident they won't do any filler now that the ending's in sight, but they may want to drag this out as long as they can to keep the gravy train rolling.

I actually looked up how big the manga/anime gap is, and apparently the anime is 50 chapters behind, and they typically cover about 1 to 3 chapters an episode, so if they don't decide to stretch it out, they could take anywhere from four months to one year. Who knows.

Well if anyone hears anything official I'd appreciate it if you let me know.

In response to Harada's tweets they started this petition as a way for fans to show their support. I know internet petitions are useless, but if he's trying to get the support of tens of thousands of fans to show to Namco, it certainly couldn't hurt to give it a sign. (Note, it asks for your facebook info, but you don't actually have to give it to them, so don't let that stop you from signing).

Man I remember when he fought Ocelot it felt like waaaaaay more than five deaths.

There's just so much running around in that fight. Honestly, I think the Twin Snakes version is superior. Ocelot being able to ricochet bullets while off-screen is a nightmare, and your chances to actually do damage on him are so few. Going first-person and popping him in the head until he dies is great.

It's just way too easy and trivial in Twin Snakes, so it kind of ruins it.

You're both right!

I've never seen any of these! Should I see some of these? I hate horror, but sci fi is cool, and I'd like to learn to like horror.

@believer258: Better than last year.

The Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite were two of the best games of the last generation so 2013 wasn't all bad.

2013 was incredible and 2014 is the lamest.

I think the transition from dialogue boxes to scripted cutscenes is responsible for a lot of the pacing and localization problems that bother me in modern Final Fantasy games, and personally that's not a change I want to see Persona make. When games have dialogue boxes that allows you to move through the dialogue at your own pace, you can dwell on specific lines, and you can move more quickly through expository dialogue or story beats you don't care about. Cutscenes force you to play at the games pace, they also place tighter restrictions on localization, because there's a lot more you have to account for when you have to worry about matching a voice to a mouth and other character movements.

Not only that, but these games are known for their breadth, and I worry that using more expensive and time consuming cutscenes would interfere with the amount of story content they're able to produce. Personally I don't feel it would add enough to the game to make that trade off worth it. I think the ideal situation is that the parts of the main story that need it most would get some cutscenes, with the rest of the game using fully voiced dialogue boxes.

Maybe I'm just weird though, because I really dislike the fact that basically every big video game franchise tries to emulate cinema with its story presentation. So I'm totally okay with games that don't have voice over, and rely more on reading than watching. Those are areas of video game storytelling I want to see explored, and it would be a shame if Persona stopped doing that.

The only boss that gave me trouble in 2 was the fight against like a billion Metal Gears. That one gave me a lot of trouble though. It was one of those times where I found the boss fight so difficult, that it made me wonder if I was supposed to lose or if there was some other trick to it. Took me like 7 tries.

Fatman, Helicopter, and Solidus are challenging but not too tough, and all the other bosses are kind of a cakewalk.

I finally finished Wheel of Time over the summer. Because that's the biggest series I've ever read, and it took so long to get through, I'm hesitant to get started on anything major for a while. So I've just been reading old detective novels cause they're super short and I need to recharge. Finished Red Harvest, and The Big Sleep. Working my way through The Long Goodbye right now, then I'll probably do another Dashiell Hammett one.
