Cryo ammo! (or do classes other than soldier not have that?)

Anyway, it wasn't *that* bad for me. I agree that it's not as well designed as it could have been, but I didn't find it incredibly difficult. But then, I was on Normal.

Are they joking or are they being totally serious? People, especially young college kids, love to make offensive jokes so this isn't really out of the ordinary. If, however, they begin talking in an actual hateful way - you'll know it if they do - then just pull yourself away from the group. That's not a group you want to hang around with.

If they did the "install so you don't have to switch" thing with Forza 3, I don't see why they couldn't have done it here. I guess because ME3 isn't a first party game or whatever. It doesn't much bother me, it's just a bit of a bummer that it happened.

As for me, I've only had to do three or four disc changes in ~15 hours of play. It's not that bad and certainly not a deal breaker. Besides, disc changing isn't anywhere near as bad as the shit framerate that the PS3 version supposedly has, though the 360 drops there sometimes as well.

Most importantly: Reaper shields are just normal mass effect shields, just very very powerfull. So yes with sufficient firepower concentrated on a Reaper it can be destroyed. It's a simple matter of increasing the firepower enough. There was not enough of such firepower present in the destroyers stationed close enough to the Citadel at the end of 1. Their numbers were too small.Secondly Soverign is the biggest most badass reaper class "capital ship", it's also encountered in ME1 when you know nothing about them. So yes their shields probably seemed invulnurable, compared to what alliance had on their ships.Thirdly Thanix cannons that are very similar to normal mass accelerator cannons ships already had just boosted with reaper tech to superheat the projectiles. Turians actually retrofitted a large portion of their armada with them by the time we get to 3. And yes Reapers (as an army not as individual ships) still cannot be defeated conventionally even with all of the above. There is simply not enought ships/firepower even in the combined galaxy's fleet. You can destroy individual capital ships however with sufficient overwhelming firepower.

Pretty much that. Sovereign was like the Bruce Lee of Reaper ships; most of the others are more, say, Jackie Chan or something. In other words, still very dangerous but not almost invincible in a traditional fight.

Is it a bit disappointing that this isn't clearly explained? Yeah, but I'm certain that if you looked, there are many parts of the Mass Effect fiction that could use with more elaboration. This little detail just happens to deal with a major issue. It's still made clear enough that Reaper ships can be taken down, though.

And the gaming community actually wants more respect. Ha! As if these kinds of assholes deserve it.

Critics don't internet bomb Michael Bay every time he makes a Transformers movie, do they? They don't chase him down and express their discontentedness, do they? So why on Earth must we gamers do this shit?

If you don't think that Mass Effect 3 is a good game, then don't buy it. That simple. Being a cunt only makes those of us that actually try to illustrate gamers as good people look like cunts. And I don't like being labeled that way.

Before this rambles on too long, I'll end by saying: Stop this shit, goddamn it!

@bonorbitz: Jeff mentioned having a cold or something on the Bombcast.

He also mentioned not wanting to give it to his dad, so he went ahead and came for the Bombcast. I'm guessing that the family emergency mentioned earlier has something to do with his father, but I am not certain so do not quote me on that. It's just a guess.

On topic, this has already been said: GDC is for devs to talk to devs. Giantbomb is there because interesting tidbits can sometimes come from that, and things can be revealed from there. But it's not a guarantee that more than a few things will actually be there. As has also been said, wait a week and more news may come along.

If you're desperate for a TNT, there must have been one you missed somewhere. If not, then why not just go back and watch an old one whose details you have probably forgotten all of.

Mass Effect 3 (already out) and Bioshock Infinite are my two most anticipated releases this year. KoA Reckoning was on my mind as well but that one will have to wait for a price drop, especially after the disappointing demo. Borderlands 2 seems interesting but my opinions on the first one are divided. It was essentially one hell of an FPS skinner box, but I had fun with it until I realized this. Finally, we get around to Far Cry 3 and Tomb Raider. The first two Far Cry games are fairly divisive in terms of whether they are good or not, but the trailers that have been released for it thus far look fantastic. Tomb Raider also seems to be doing something different with that series. It seems like they're trying to make Lara more like a very smart person trying to survive, which is opposed to the femme fatale bitch that every other game has her starred as. Nothing wrong with the latter, but I'm hoping that the former will be a nice change of pace.

For those of you who only like things in list form and can't pick apart paragraphs, the games I'm interested in that are coming out/have come out this year are:

  • Mass Effect 3
  • Bioshock Infinite
  • Borderlands 2
  • Far Cry 3
  • Tomb Raider

I need to know how 5 month old threads keep getting brought back up. It's like a daily occurrence on Giant Bomb.

The game-dedicated forums are filled with great topics that may age but are still relevant and full of good posts.. Not everyone buys every game on launch and discusses it then and there, sometimes you, you know, buy a game a little late.

Despite the age, my opinion of the game is lower than most people's. It's certainly not bad and I did beat it. Spent about 20 hours in it. However, I thought... well, let's just list this off in an informal manner.

-Despite that it was advertised as having many different playstyles available, there's only one that's actually good: Stealth. I didn't play stealth. I played it more like a cover-based FPS. And it's not great when played that way. Some encounters were fun but most were just OK. This wouldn't be a good complaint if the game weren't advertised as good at stealth playing.

-The blandest color pallet I've ever seen. It even beats out the original Gears of War, which at least had some greenery in it. Here, though, it feels like we've got a grand total of three colors: Black, yellow, and a little bit of blue. OK, there's some white in there, but my point is that the environments here are more boring than the "gray shooters" that were getting so much flak for so long.

-The AI sucks, plain and simple.

-None of the weapons really "felt" fun to use or really powerful.

-The story was uninteresting. It was OK at first, but I found myself not caring when the words "Illuminati" were uttered. It should have been a big reveal but I didn't care.

-Adam's voice, and the voice acting in general, was bad. I point out Adam's voice in particular because it was stupidly deep and got on my nerves enough to want to skip conversations.

-The role-playing elements - that is, the numbers - were there but they didn't much matter. Doing most of the stuff in the game meant that you had almost everything at the end of it. It could have definitely used a better system here.

-Yes, for someone who doesn't know Deus Ex, the advertisement for the game was misleading. Hence my post that you replied to: I played the original game for over 10 hours and so I totally knew that this was a stealth game. -I agree on that one. The world of Deus Ex is supposed to have much more color than what HR provided. However it looked good and stylish enough to not distract you from what the game is actually about: Stealth sneaky gameplay. -13 hours in, haven't had that thought once. I heard the AI is bad but from my experience it is pretty OK, sneaking around them and/or attacking them feels natural, and their reactions to your actions are great! Especially when they're looking for you. -This is Deus Ex. The guns aren't supposed to feel great, they're supposed to do distinctive jobs and they do them well.-This is Deus Ex.The story isn't supposed to be groundbreaking, it's supposed to provide a reasonable background to the events and it totally does. -It sucks that you didn't like his voice, that must've ruined your experience. Personally I can't wait to hear him speak! Also the bad-ish voice acting is totally Deus Ex. Not everything has to be well-done to be "good" in terms of experience. Not every game has to provide Mass Effect voice acting and Gears of War shooting, that quality isn't essential for every video game, I don't know why so many people think they are. -Deus Ex. Basic XP rewarded for proper exploration and execution, used on augmentations. It's not an RPG. Your problem my friend is that you, if I may presume, jump into games expecting the same old song and dance. You've totally missed the point of why this game exists if you focused on the voice acting and gun feel.

I didn't really focus on voice acting and gun feel, it's just some issues I had with the game. The game, as a whole, just didn't do anything for me.

Well, at least not the first time. For some reason, after I typed that I started thinking about it and now my stupid brain kind of wants to buy it back and play it again. Apparently I'm forgetting why I traded it in the first place. I hate it when this happens.

No Caption Provided

1) It doesn't lack the simplest characteristics of a role playing game. It includes choice, allowing you to play the role you want to. Even in the more RPG-centric first game, the mechanics were more centered around your skill with a weapon than with the numbers you had grinded your way up to.

2) Persona 4 is not my favorite game. I haven't even played Persona 4. I don't want to. No interest. Yes, I've seen bits of the ER and I still don't care to see any more or it.

3) Ruleset? Did you think this was a DnD based combat system? No! RPG's have long since grown into something away from tabletop RPG's. Deal with it.

4) Fuck you, I can enjoy whatever I want to.

Everything you wrote sounds like you copy/pasted every troll statement and organized it into paragraphs. There's way too many to address right now since I'm leaving work but I will take the time to laugh at your crazy sentence about the Citadel feeling more confined than it did in Mass Effect 2, that couldn't be further from the truth.

The Citadel feels too confined in both of them. As for the rest of his arguments? Well, I'm grateful to see that someone has come up with legitimate reasons why this game isn't as good as it should have been and has put those reasons into well-written sentences.

Do I enjoy the game? Yes. Is it the weakest in the series as far as story and writing goes? By far, yes.
