Mafia 1 was one of the first games I downloaded through torrents when I got my first game-pc because I still remembered Greg Cassavins raving review :P I probably only got to play it a couple years after release but was still blown away by it, its one of the few pc games ive ever bothered to finish....maybe the only one now that I think about it...ah no! I did also finish a couple lucas arts adventure games like day of the tentacle.

Played and finished 2 on ps3, liked it a bunch too. I honestly wish more games would just be linear but also set in an open world like that game. I dont need a million busywork activities all over the map. But I can understand how when it comes to spending development resources that is not efficient AT ALL.

havent played 3, honestly pretty curious.

Ive payed full price on launchday for re3R, ff7R and Doom eternal, and what have I been playing in all my free time lately:

Doom64: Loving the hell out of it. I like how theres stuff resembling puzzles, I feel the levels are very varied and interesting gameplaywise and it feels like if it can keep it up I might prefer it to doom 1+2. Sure its less fast but it still feels pretty great to control... Im playing on whatever the ultraviolence equivalent was called and I just got past the level after....whatever this games equivalent of dead simple was called haha. Im not finding it frustrating or too easy, dificulty feels perfect for me. The weapons feel great imo, love the sounds and ost and visuals, the atmosphere is great... I like pretty much everything about it really. Except I guess that in the original game you couldnt save? I definitely usualy save once mid level like a scrub :') I strangely still remember seeing the game a ton in bargainbins back in the day for next to nothing. I had zero interest in it because it got like a 45% from the uk official n64 magazine so I assumed it was crap but...I guess it stuck with me more then I realised :P

Streets of Rage 4: I like beat em ups buuuuuut usualy find a lot of em to be a bit boring and repetitive/simplistic. I always thought streets of rage 2 was actually pretty good though.... but this new one....holy moly, this is perfect to me :) the combo system, how different the characters are, how functionally different the npcs are.... hm hm hm creme de la crop :P I also adore the music, imo its on par with the older games, sure a bit more modern but I think the vibe it gives off is still very similar. And the animation is also just masterclass animationwork. Visual design in general is just off the charts too. Couldnt recommend more to anyone who enjoys oldschool beat em ups. I think this might the best one ever made.....My mind is blanking on a better one at the very least for now.

Samsho on ps4 for cheap: Only played a bit so far and I like it :) I specifically like the flow of the fights, a bit slower than in the usual fighting game I guess, but also faster and deadlier in other ways. Ive played a little of the previous samsho games but not enough to tell how faithfull it feels to the series. To me it feels pretty much right at least. The endboss of the arcade or story mode or whatever sure is a hell of a fucker though holy moly! I kept dying for like half an hour until I started spamming heavy slash of all things xD not very satisfying but a memory I wil never forget :')

@rejizzle: theres even full fmv racing games and shmups xD And depending on how you want to look at it even ps1 final fantasies are full of fmv (if we are being pedantic full motion video doesnt even mean real people, its basically anything pre rendered, so technically any game with pre rendered cutscenes could be counted as having fmv xD. I know thats not what anyone is talking about when saying fmv anymore but....)

And thnx to everyone talking about "concept" thats the word I was looking for when saying "tag"

I also agree with what pretty much everyone here said. I was previously too tired to form a proper thought about it :')

it isnt though?....huh thats interesting, I would never even think to consider fmv to be a genre but im not sure by what criteria... It seems more like a tag to me. Like nudity, violence, anime, pixelart etc. But then again im not sure I could argue why I'd be right atm so I dunno :)

Im curious how the mods feel about it.

Could not care less. Im happy the next Doom will get a chance to sound different and im happy Mick will be able to work on other stuff instead. Was Doom awesome with his soundtrack? Yes it absolutely was. And now we got two of those in a short-ish time and now im ready for something else.

Also yeah the doom soundtrack has absolutely nothing on the music that inspired it, but I think it fits the game really well presicely because of that. Any more melody wouldve been too distracting and the same for anything more technical and crazy.....But yeah im not sure i could listen to it outside of the game, it just sounds like the most boring djent music immaginable to me then :P. I think its too bad people often get scared off by the more extreme side of metals vocals. Dooms soundtrack has made me suspect that otherwise way more people would be digging the shit outa that stuff. But its ok like this, not trying to say theres anything wrong with it :)

As someone who does follow games media resonably well but hasnt had social media for over 6 years now..I didnt even know people were outraged about this?... Seems especially crazy to me concerning we all already knew Elly was a lesbian in the first freakin games dlc...were people mad about that too?..

Anyways, I think this is one of those things most normal people dont even think, talk or know about but seems to be a thing because of the handfull of "asshole gamers" complaining about it on social media.

Edit: Btw, I did know a lot of it leaked. Havent seen the leaks. To anyone complaingn the spoilers are unavoidable now:....I dunno im like on the internet all day everyday and havent had a single thing accidentally spoiled to me ever.....it may be worth concidering what websites your visiting if this keeps happening to you...( Gotta be honest though, I did spoil a couple things for myself looking up a walkthrough and accidentally seeing the next step too when I was younger :P....and ok ok I do know now that theres a trans character in last of us 2, big freaking whoop xD, thats like telling me one of the characters has blonde hair.)

Awesome, I will 100% buy the complete edition if that'll ever be a thing. Literally every single fighting game ive bought in the last 10 years full price at release I didnt end up getting to properly play until way later when all dlc/the complete edition was already out :/.....

I never thought a nerd had anything to do with what you do specifically , just how much you are into something. Like, being too much into anything makes you a nerd. If all you talk about is karate you are a karate nerd etc. I guess I'd learned about otakus at a pretty young age though so that may be part of where I got my definition from it. I kinda always saw those as the same thing
