I'm far from the first person to say it, but looks like a PS2 game that got lost in time. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I think I'll give it a miss...

E: Also Rorie mentions you rip apart dudes but you kinda don't, they just spray out ludicrous amounts of blood and go ragdolling.

I've always been a little confused about the staff's anticipation for Cyberpunk considering they didn't particularly love The Witcher 3, to say nothing about CDProject's older games. Looking back at the 2015 awards, only Jason had it in his top three, the couple other times it appeared on the staff lists it was down near the bottom and came in 10th place that year. I'm also not really sure that any of them actually finished TW3, or even got much past the first act.

All this to say I'm not at all surprised Jeff G isn't a fan and while I really hope they fix the most grievous bugs in the launch-day patch I also never expected him to like it that much.

Doom Eternal both scored and sold better than its predecessor, with an 88 on metacritic for the PC version versus an 85. While I know it definitely rubbed some people the wrong way, especially those expecting something more similar to the (frankly, pretty breakable, balance-wise) 2016 game, I absolutely loved D:E and think its one of the best shooters of all time. Mechanically I think its close to flawless.

Alex thinking Eternal is poorly regarded does kind of show how insular the team can be at times, and I don't mean that as an insult or even think its a bad thing in this case, just a funny quirk of the internet.

Was GI Joe a thing outside of America? I never saw it and I'm the same age as Ben.

I never watched it, but I lived in Trinidad as a kid and it'd be a part of American/Canadian run-off, alongside stuff like Beast Wars, MASK, DBZ etc. Plus there was cable, which I'd guess is pretty similar across much of the English-speaking world, at least in the Western hemisphere.

I feel like I'm going nuts. People seem to love this game but, completely ignoring the gatcha elements, it just looks pretty dull and generic to me in the videos I've watched. The elemental interactions seem to be the only emergent mechanics, otherwise it just looks like a pretty generic MMO-style action RPG.

Glad to see people still playing Xonotic, I think I will reinstall it!
